Always a treat. We go to State College often for games and just visits. One of out very special places to eat is always Spats. This past week-end we were in town for Arts Festival so we went in for a late dinner. Food was great…..salmon, crab, 3 Dips. Our waiter seemed a bit timid and not completly knowledgeable of the menu….but was quite good otherwise. Yes, the prices are a bit high….but the food is always fresh and pleasing.

  • Pennsyltucky Veggie

Pennsyltucky Veggie 2011 Best Salad, the Creole Chopped Salad always comes out super chilled with a wonderful range of textures, veggies and flavors. It does include a cheese, lettuce and a sweet creamy dressing. There is nothing else like it anywhere in the area and we both really enjoy it.Although it is not vegan, it packs in so many different vegetables like broccoli, corn and tomatoes. I had to look hard to determine that there was actually some romaine lettuce in it. It comes ungarnished and really doesn’t photograph as well as some other salads but the flavors are grand and has been consistent over the past decade.

A little pricey but this is a great place. Try the duck.if you leave without trying the grits you are missing out.

Always like it. Lunch or dinner, though the Pork sandwich disappeared from dinner option. Still can get that downstairs at Rathskellar bar, (horrible place to eat if crowded and smokey). Food really good, they offer a bring your own wine night wich is nice. I’m dumbfounded when folks say hard to get to. . .there’s a parking garage 1/2 block away $1/hour. . .r u kidding? loading zone in front of restaurant. walk you cow!

Love a place with tiny bites, tapas and appetizers. The specials were great. I could eat here every week and not run out of things that would delight me.

It’s ok….nothing to write home about. Be sure to drink a least 2 bottles of wine, it will make it somewhat bearable….don’t get a salad, very lame….but so is the culture in the area.

Marti Gras Restaurant. Hard to get to, parking is very difficult here, and if you find it, expensive. Tickets are very expensive. Food here is fine, a cajun theme, cheaper lunch menu is better value, prices are pretty high, and service can be quite slow, not a good place if you’re on a short lunch break.
