Service/quality has definitely taken a die in the past yers… Just not what it used to be, still god enough for us poor college kids though- And don’t forget about those AMAZING STICKIES
Just OK. Graduated from Penn State in 1991 and have been to the Diner many, many times…and this time was a disappointment. I ordered the Ultra Mac which was just cheese broiled on top of macaroni noodles and my wife had a weak rendition of French onion soup. Neither of our orders were very warm and the soup tasted like a concentrated version of Lipton’s soup. The service was slow, as well. My recommendation is to order the grilled Sticky and leave the rest for the students to eat.
Agonizingly mediocre. Even the stickies aren’t worth all the hype.Some friends and I went here on a Friday night before attending a concert, originally our plan was to go to the Corner Room but the wait was too long for us to stand. I ordered a crispy chicken sandwich and all it came with was tomatoes and lettuce – no cheese or interesting sauce. I asked for barbecue sauce on the side to make it a tiny bit better than something I’d get in a dining hall. The fries were pretty crispy. Then I ordered a grilled sticky for dessert, not knowing it could come with ice cream. It was just okay. It was warm and decent, but I’d much rather go to Herwig’s and have the streussel.
A State College tradition, not that good. Get the stickies, but expect to wait because of SLOW service. Their other food was OK. Not really remarkable.
It’s inconsistent. Like most places in town, their staff turnover is high and some of their servers are good and some not so much. Overall, I think it’s going downhill. I’m especially bummed that the Pittsburgher isn’t on the menu anymore. If I were rich, I’d buy it and reinvigorate it. The stickies are still great, but last time I was there, they were out of ice cream. WTH?
Typical diner atmosphere. Food is really good but really unhealthy. Not a fancy place. Good late night spot.
Love the Mac and Cheese… And, of course, the Grilled Stickies.
