This is by far the only authentic South Asian restaurant in the Philadelphia restaurant. It focuses only on Punjabi cuisine, which I typically enjoy. It caters to the Punjabi crowd, who find it to be a taste of home. It’s a very small place with limited seating. It’s best for takeaway. Still, vegetarians and carnivores alike will find something they enjoy. I was surprised at the freshness and qualities of the vegetables they have to offer each day (so many to choose from, the menu at times changing daily). They add spice to order, and if you want spice, they will definitely give it to you. The service is pretty quick and the staff is straight to the point. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes as well. The haleem is their speciality and is the only good haleem you’ll find in the area (if you can find it elsewhere). Their biryani is to die for. The vegetable biryani actually has a lot of vegetables in it, each of them seasoned to perfection. I love that they had dates to the biryani, which contrasts the chilis. For foodies, New Punjab is a must visit!
