Great Pizza. Always meant to check this place out and finally got the chance today. Got the pizza tonight and it was amazing. So happy to have good pizza in berks county. The crust was thin and cooked just right. Amazing sauce and not too much cheese. I was really surprised by how good it was. Thought this place was more about the sandwiches but the pizza holds its own. Wife got the turkey hoagie and it was great. The roll really made the sandwich. Haven’t tried the steak yet but I will definitely be back. They also have a vegetarian hoagie on the menu that I am really looking forward to tasting. I don’t usually review online but the reviews I read on here did not do this place justice. Mike – keep up the good work

Philly? What part exactly ?. I am from the area and I reallllllyyyyy wanted to like this place. I prefer Steve’s prince of steaks over Pat’s and Geno’s. I’ll eat at Jim’s once and awhile. Positives: Clean. Menu’s are more organized. Cook/ Cashier friendly. Fries had a crispy crunch to it. I wouldn’t change that. Diverse menu. Great lunch combo bargain. Sharp provolone is on point. Bread was conshi or Lisicos. Negatives: If you like some steak to go with the onion sandwich this is your place. Stewed raw yellow onion killed the whole sandwich. . I do not know what type of cut of beef you use. No flavor. again perhaps the onions and cheese overwhelmed its natural flavor. I feel these items should compliment the sandwich and not be overbearing.Mike, rough chop the onions bro (use white onions) . Sear the meat (perhaps the grill is too new.. not ‘seasoned’ enough. Hand Slice each steak about half the size. Went in during lunchtime. Not happy about waiting till 4pm to wait for pizza oven to be turned on. Please enlighten us as to why this is. This place has potential. With some tweaks here and there.. it could be a winner. C+

Disappointed. I was in Pennsylvania for three days. For some reason that I had never gotten a Philly cheesesteak sandwich in Pennsylvania. Mike’s looked like a great spot, but didn’t even realize that on Friday at 5:30 PM no one was there. The gentleman behind the counter failed to acknowledge us immediately. I ordered a 9 inch Philly cheesesteak and loaded fries. My friend ordered a 9 inch Philly cheesesteak with grilled onions. The buns were soft. That was the highlight of the sandwich. The meat did not fill the bun. The meat ( I keep saying the meat because I’m not sure if it was steak) did have cheese wiz. My friend said that the onions were nasty. The meat, again, did not taste like steak. In fact, it had very little taste. The loaded french fries, with mozzarella, cheese whiz and bacon, was the savior to my hunger. When I go through Pennsylvania once again, I will not stop at Mike’s taste of Philly, unless I find out that is what a Philly cheesesteak in Philadelphia is supposed to taste like.

Was exicted but disappointing. Was excited to finally get a real cheesesteak in town. While the steaks themselves taste pretty good(not as good as many of the philly places mind you) the value is poor. THe amount of meat you get is minimal considering you are also paying Philly steak prices.

Finally! A great cheesesteak place! I am the happiest person living in West Reading… and I totally gave up being a vegetarian. Don’t leave West Reading until you go to Mike’s.

Taste of Philly – not so much. We were excited to have a new sandwich place in Reading to try out, sorry to say we were disappointed. We tried to order a Roast Beef hoagie but they had none. So we settled on an Italian hoagie and the grilled chicken with pesto, provolone, spinach and bacon. Nothing special about the Italian it was just ok and the grilled chicken was beyond disappointing. very salty, I expected some saltiness due to the bacon but this tasted like they had added extra salt to the chicken when cooking it. Sad to say we will not be returning, instead we will conintue to travel to Jeffersonville to Pudge’s II until a suitable alternative comes to Reading. The only redeeming part of the whole meal were the fries, they were quite good.
