Watch out for sneaky waitress. She asked if we would like soup or salad with our meal in such a way that we thought it came with and asked my 14 year old if he wanted mushrooms or onions with his steak(he would prefer neither) in such a way that he chose the onions, didn’t eat them and they cost 2$ extra. I didn’t need or want my beet salad which was a disappointment but l thought it came with my meal. She kept telling my husband he would be hungry when he just ordered soup and salad. My duck was almost raw and I needed to ask for a sharper knife to cut it because it was like rubber. My mother’s short ribs were delicious but my daughter was disappointed in her fried oysters. It was very expensive and a disappointing. We left feeling very annoyed and a little taken advantage of.
Excellent Food & Service!. My Family and I have been to the Roosevelt Tavern a few times since under new ownership. One of our friends recommended it to us. We have eaten the fine dining cuisine as well as the lunch menu (burgers, sandwiches, etc). Each time we went the service was excellent as well as the food. The mixed drinks were perfect with an excellent selection. The beers on tap were excellent as well. We have taken our sons (6 & 9) and they were well contented with the food. Many of the servers were extremely child friendly. On the occasions my wife and I went we enjoyed the atmosphere and the pace of service. We plan to return and enjoy again.
Great Atmosphere. The Roosevelt Tavern is not in the best neighborhood but once you get inside it’s beautiful. The cream of crab soup is especially good. The staff is very attentive but the menu is pricey.
