The number one problem at Smokey Bones, at least the one in York, PA is inconsistency with the quality of food. There was a time we went to Bones at least once a month but then it started, I’d have to send back food. One time it took three steaks to get one that was tender. Then there was the pasta that was over-cooked to the point it was a ball of gooey noodles. You have to TRY to mess up a pasta dish! What was a once in a while behavior became business as usual, always needing to send back a plate. Yesterday I was there to have a combo plate of wings and pulled pork. I’ve had the dish many times. The amount of pulled pork was about 60% of what I used to receive and the wings were so tough they were inedible. Sent the wings back, new wings arrive and the same thing….over cooked. Manager took the price of wings off the invoice but how can you continually mess up? It must be a problem in staffing the cooking staff with experienced cooks. Have some money remaining on my birthday gift cert that I’ll use but after that — will eat here again but it is no longer my monthly go-to restaurant.

While I have dined at several Smokey Bones all over, first time at this one. Yes this is a chain restaurant so food is usually standard. Service was friendly and attentive at the bar where I dined. The Smoked Chicken wings at this Smokey Bones seemed to be more tasty than others. Same goes for the Baby Backs.

Service is great but they could make the pulled pork better. I read Yelp reviews before going to this Smokey Bones location, so I expected the worst. Service was surprisingly good though. The server was polite, quick, efficient, and anticipated a few things that I was going to ask for. The food, on the other hand, was of mixed quality. I had the Make Your Own Combo with Texas beef brisket and pulled pork. I thought the brisket was pretty good. Unfortunately, the pulled pork was very dry and flavorless.

2 out of 3 aint bad…..i guess.. Food and service was for the most part really good when we ate there 3 weeks ago. Had the 3 meat sampler. Wings was outstanding, Sausage was just too damn good , and Coleslaw was the best i ever had but the brisket was something that just didn’t make the cut. Was too thin cut and covered in BBQ sauce. When i made it to that portion of the plate i found out why. Was tough and tasted like it was cooked days before and the BBQ sauce was used to cover the refrigeration smell. If I hadn’t been a group i would have brought to Managers attention because if you cant make a decent brisket its time to close the doors in my book. Brisket is slow smoked and if done right does not need drowned in BBQ sauce to mask the taste. Worth a stop if only for the wings, sausage and coleslaw.

OK But Could Be Better. Smokey Bones makes a nice plate of ribs. They are just a little too much of a mass produced operation rather than a real quality rib joint. I will say the service is very good and the location has plenty of parking.

Smokey Bones. Stopped in here this past weekend. We showed up pretty late with a decent sized party and our server was still prompt and very attentive. I had the pretzel bones and a smoked turkey sandwich, both were full of flavor and just plain good food. I will return the next time I am in york for sure.
