The origins of The Sand and The Sea date back to 1961 when singer/songwriter Hal Hester and Broadway artist Julio Guasp opened the restaurant on San Francisco Street in Old San Juan. The name of the restaurant, The Sand and The Sea comes from the song written by Mr. Hester for singer Nat King Cole. In the year 1971 the found a location which where a lot of people described it as magical and in 1974 they inaugurated the new restaurant with the same name. Now located at an altitude of 2500 feet in El Barrio Cercadillo in the town of Cayey, with breathtaking views of the town of Guyama, descending fog, mountains that look like volcanos and and ocean views as far as the eye can see sits this beautiful wooden structure that can comfortably accommodate 150 people with a live band and plenty of room for dancing. The weather at night drops to an incredibly pleasant temperature that only adds to your experience. The Sand and The Sea is also very proud to offer 6 private apartments and two houses that are available for rent. The Sand and The sea can also be used for private events in which we will work with you to ensure the best experience possible.
