Nice place for the view. The service was decent but a little too talkative. The food was ok but way over priced. Since when does breakfast food come alacart? Ordered and 8+ dollar omlette, home fries were 3.50 extra and 4.00 for a glass milk. It was’nt all that. 60.00 for breakfast for four. Most likely not again. Just ok.

Best Breakfast on the Island. I’ve been going to B.I. for three years now and this is by far the best breakfast on the island. In season it is always packed with the locals (i.e. lots of sailors first thing in the morning) which is true testament to just how good the food is here. Without doubt the blueberry pancakes are worthy of special merit award.

Terrible Service – A let down. We went to Ernie’s for breakfast our first morning on the island. We were meeting another couple for breakfast there, but as our motel room was closer to the restaurant we arrived first. So we spoke with the hostess (who later turned out to be the owner’s wife) and asked for a table for four on the outside deck. The restaurant was fairly empty; maybe 2 or 3 tables filled in all. The hostess didn’t want to seat us as we were only a party of two at the time and that she might need to sit a four top party before the other couple came to meet us ( we were looking at only 15 minutes though). She asked for our name, scrawled it on a pad at the door and asked us to sit outside and wait for the other two. It was early and very misty out and we were really looking for a warm cup of coffee. We caught the ear of our hostess again and asked if we could grab a cup at the breakfast bar. She told us that we could not, citing the possability of a larger crowd arriving. I was beginning to feel invisable as we were physically at the restaruant looking to spend our money here and repeatedly we were pushed off for a possible group of spectres. So we did what any sane person would do and grabbed a cup of coffee at Rebecca’s. When the rest of our party arrived we headed back to the hostess stand to find that a group of 12 or so had arrived off of the ferry and the hostess sat two two-top party at the very tables that she did not want us sitting at as there might be a bigger party coming. Seeing that the room wasn’t filled yet, we opted for the front window seat as the others in our party were very determined to have breakfast here, and this was not the hostess’s section. The food was certainly nothing to write home about and if I wasn’t writing a review I would have no problem erasing the flavors from my memory. The hash browns were already salted before they reached the table, perhaps in an effort to offset the dry and blandness of the dish. Still too salty. Everything came with tons of butter, but not in a greasy-spoon sort of way where this is the norm. The pancakes were dry, leading us to believe that they were pre cooked. Some of the sausages were over cooked and others not which drew us to a simialr conclusion. My over easy egg wasn’t so easy to replicate. It went on and on.Just a bad experience all around, and then to find out that the rude hostess was the owner’s wife? That was enough for me. They only serve breakfast so if you don’t make it to Ernie’s in time, take it from me, you were lucky for it.

Casual Breakfast Diner. Great place to stop in for an early morning stack of blueberry pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Great vibe, lots of locals, decent coffee, and low prices. Can get pretty crowded on weekends!
