Outstanding. My wife and I decided to try this place for breakfast for the 1st time today. I have to say both the experience and the food was great. It was an hour’s drive each way and well worth it. When we arrived they were busy ( a good sign ). The smell in the parking lot was great. As we waited to be seated we made sure to check out the wall of specials ( a large selection ) and knew what we wanted. I got the maple rum french toast with the fruit and pecans and my wife got the canadian bacon apple brie omelet. I also had to try a side of the corned beef hash ( no potatoes ).The diner itself is great. The exterior is in need of updating but the interior is very nice and is clean. Classic diner decor. We got seated promptly and had coffee very quick. No it’s not gourmet coffee but it’s good, hot, and they kept it coming as needed without us having to chase someone down. Ordered our food and had it quickly. It was outstanding. My french toast was unique and extremely satisfying, fresh and well prepared. My wife’s omelet was the same. The corned beef hash was as others have stated. No potatoes, and cooked like a patty, well done and crispy on the outsideWe will definitely be going back. I love places where you can go as you are, be as you are, and enjoy a great meal without having to put on any airs. Our waitress was busy, but attentive and friendly, but not overly so.Highly recommend!!!

Best breakfast around. Excellent coffee and waitstaff are terrific! My favorite Saturday breakfast place!

Look at the wall…. This is my face breakfast place in the city. Those talking about an uh serene med menu must have still been asleep. I go at 7 AM on weekdays and they have great specials. Pesto grits and in the fall pumpkin pancakes with real maple syrup (ask for it) and granola. Heaven! Weekday waitresses are the most pleasant anywhere…even early in the morning!

Best Diner Ever. The ultimate classic diner with incredible specials. Lobster Benedict, blueberry cream cheese stuffed french toast, and the pesto mozzarella omelet are among my favorite items. The ultimate dish is their potato pancakes with portabello mushroom, sauteed spinach, peppers and onions, all topped with a poached egg and Hollandaise sauce, although I haven’t seen it on the list lately. Always a line out the door on weekends. Anyone complaining about their menu doesn’t know enough to look on the wall at the specials. There aren’t as many specials during the week, but there are enough. Nevertheless I would shoot for the weekend after 11am. A jewel.

Go on the weekend. The Modern has an amazing array of breakfast specials, all tacked to the wall, BUT they are available only on the weekend. The French toast creations are outstanding.
