So so. For the longest time I wanted to try this restaurant and finally got to it this past year. Maybe it was a bad night but let me just say that the atmosphere was unprofessional and my noodle dish was not at all good- and I’m Asian; southeast Asian.. Maybe I’ll have to give it another try but I’m certainly not in a rush.

Yummy!. Just got delivery on foodler.com from Angkor. I got the cripsy shrimp and the medicinal soup. Very good. I didn’t love the bee bong.. the raw onions were too much and I didn’t detect any mint of basil. I would definitely try this place again!

Reviews are Misleading. The number of positive reviews for this restaurant astound me. As a long time resident of the neighborhood, I cant remember talking to one person who would actually recommend the place. My own experiences are regretable. Small portions, bland and gritty curry, mushy meat, bad atmosphere… are just a few of the complaints which come to mind. As someone who eats and cooks a lot of thai and vietnamese food, I refuse to believe that the main difference between those cuisines and cambodian is quality. The price is also far from enticing. The average entree costs around $14, which makes it $9 dollars more expensive than the $5 take-out it resembles… I must admit I did enjoy the cambodian music videos playing on a television during my meal.

Take Flight on Angkor’s Wings. It’s all about the wings – the Angkorian Chicken Wings, to be precise. Covered in a sticky, spicy, peanut and chili sauce – and garnished with sliced jalapenos. I could eat these all night, if my wife wasn’t watching me so closely. In fact, the wings are how I even learned about Angkor – someone showed up to a poker game with some, and I was forever hooked. The rest of their menu is great as well – I’ve enjoyed their curries, particularly the Hot Basil in Lemongrass sauce, the Nam Yaa (a medicinal soup with galangal, ginger, lemongrass, as well as a good level of heat – which really does open up the sinuses!), and once we even split the Crispy Fish, which was served in a sauce very similar (identical?) to the sauce on the Angkorian Wings. Outstanding. For the life of me I can’t understand why the Tiger Cry Beef Salad is no longer on the menu. It was salad made of thin-sliced beef and different julienned vegetables – crunchy carrot, daikon, cucumbers, onion, etc. – served cold, with a good level of spiciness offset by the lime/acid dressing. It was a pleasure to eat – plus the name of the dish is freaking AWESOME. The only disappointing thing I have eaten at Angkor were the Street Noodles – they arrived a little too gummy, and the flavors didn’t really POP for me. But the rest of the items on the menu have consistently been delicious. The food here will be enjoyed by anyone who likes to test their tolerance on the Scoville scale – and there are plenty of non-spicy offerings for the faint of heart.

Angkor Restaurant. Delicious food, reasonable prices, and friendly service make this Wickenden St Cambodian restaurant a must-visit. The chicken ramvong, John’s special, and street noodles are all outstanding. And the nam-yaa soup is out of this world. This is a great lunch spot and perfect place for a quick dinner before heading out for the evening. The atmosphere is simple, clean, and casual: not ideal for a first date, but an absolute must for your monthly circuit of eateries.

Great for vegans!. This is an adorable and delicious little restaurant. The staff is very friendly and ordering takeout is quick and easy here. This is a great place for vegans, since all the ingredients in the dishes are explicitly explained on the menu so you’re not left wondering what’s in the entrees. This restaurant makes Cambodian food accessible and delicious for anyone who wants to try a new type of cuisine. My personal favorites are the yellow curry with pineapple and the spicy fried rice with tofu and vegetables. This is also a really affordable restaurant, and since it is BYOB there’s no worry of running up a big bar tab. Eat here and you will not regret it!
