Best. So be it.. As a patron since they opened and a lover of Asian food in Providence, I must say it’s the best in town. Always. Don’t like your dish…tell them and get something else (or talk to the owner she’s generally there). Some things are very authentic or fanciful takes on traditional dishes and not to everyone’s taste – so be it. They tend to substitute when short on items – still good. The neighborhood is urban – if you are intolerant of urban life go to Kansas. The place is fast paced and choked with orders on busy nights – price you pay for good food. The ambience is most akin to a great deli in Manhattan, a good chowder shack by the shore or the best rib place in Texas – so be it. Enjoy.

The Best in Rhode Island.. My favorite place to go to when I end up in Rhode Island. I have tried all the Asian restaurants, and this is the winner. Location does suck and the interior isn’t the best, but the food is what matters, and that’s what wins it. For those of you who don’t know what to get, I recommend the Lort Cha! My all time favorite.

One Night In Bangkok. I have tried about 75% of the menu and I have loved most of it. The biggest surprise are the soups. If you haven’t tried the Chicken Kainge (also sometimes called Kang Kai) then take the leap. Sweet, savory coconut broth with Asian eggplants, green beans, onions, and meat of choice (I usually pick chicken).Try the orange beef as a finisher, it’s almost like dessert. Other staples for me include mooshi, fried loat (lort), beef basil, and my personal favorite eggplant satay. Pretty much anything with the satay sauce is a safe bet. They also offer brown rice and of course it’s well known that they have the best nime chow outside of Ho Chi Minh City. My favorite restaurant in Providence along with the Hope Street location which they say is unrelated, but the menus are almost identical.

Two words: Lort Cha!. You have to try these great noodles; haven’t found them anywhere else yet, but a favorite when in college in Providence, and now a favorite of my kids when we’re in town. (Partial to the shrimp Lort). True, not in the best of neighborhoods, but totally worth trekking out there and we’ve never had a problem the several times we’ve been there. Fantastic food at great prices, huge portions, and very friendly staff. Love it! Glad they are still bustling as I hope they are business for decades to come…
