Overpriced and Under-Tasty. It’s a cool tourist trap that just doesn’t measure up in the food department. Flavorless and offf-the-chart pricing makes this a great photo-op for tourists, but a lousy place for even a cup of coffee!
Who Ordered the Lobster?. Haven Brothers is a unique and historic truly mobile diner that everyone should check for themselves and experience. That said, keep your expectations down. The food quality is notoriously low, and the prices are infamously high. Still, it is best enjoyed as bars close down and you are too drunk to care that you and your 2 friends just dropped over $20 on $8 worth of burgers and fries.
Truly a landmark. At this point, it is almost clich to speak of our long ago college days when we’d show up at Haven Brothers after a long night of drinking and dancing to enjoy their wonderful and cheap diner food. But I think that most Rhode Islanders, certainly all who went to school in Providence, have these memories. Combine terrific sandwiches, burgers, milkshakes, hot weiners, and fries with a strange location and a truly ‘diverse’ range of clientele and you’ve got a one-of-a-kind Rhode Island destination.
