Breakfast at The Rue. I recently started having my daily breakfast at The Rue and have nothing but good things to say about it. The service is friendly, prompt, and efficient. It is quiet on weekdays and there is rarely a wait for a table on weekends. The delicious and huge bowl of steel cut oatmeal with nuts, raisins, brown sugar, apples and bananas is my favorite. The scrambled eggs are very fluffy – better than I could make myself. The omelets are also excellent. The pancakes are very tasty and come with heated, real maple syrup. And the coffee is very good and frequently refilled. Finally, the atmosphere is lovely – it is very civilized so you can talk without shouting and cell phone use is discouraged so you don’t have to listen to others over-sharing. Highly recommended.

Blah…. Went this morning for breakfast. Not impressed. The waitress got me coffee instead of the cappuccino I asked for, didn’t bring my grapefruit juice, and once the food was served, she disappeared. Didn’t see her again until she brought the check. Left a weak tip. Probably won’t go back. I much prefer Sunnyside or Brickway.

Went for a weekday breakfast as tourists from Texas. Pleasantly surprised! Service was wonderful, servings were large, food was fantastic, and prices are fair! French toast and cocoa are amazing!

Have eaten here 3 times in the past 4 months and have been impressed every time. The service is attentive and the food is very good…can’t wait for our next visit!

Great breakfast! Nice waitstaff. And, yummy English breakfast tea.

Some airs, but still solid. An institution on the East Side as an upscale French influenced spot, Rue has tried over the years to adapt–sometimes successfully and other times, not so.Still a charming spot to bring an out-of-towner to have a quiet lunch or dinner. They still have a roaming bread basket with breads from the best bakery in town–warm from the oven!

So-So. I went here for dinner and had ordered duck two ways, among other things. I thought the Rue was just mediocre, in comparison to other restaurants in a similar price range.
