Overpriced, mediocre. The food was edible, but nothing special. But the prices they charge for the portions you get are ridiculous. If you're charging…

Sucks! rude service; liars. The restaurant sucks in many ways–very rude service and servers, the owners are liars–they tell you they have vegeterian dishes and then come back saying they don’t have; the server brings you a check with the food waiting for you to leave; the owner visits 3-4 times to see if the check has been paid and stands there when you sign the receipt…the most rude, inhospitable, unfriendly restaurant I’ve ever seen in US..they can’t even speak and understand English.

Small but great food!! The duck is awesome and love the Thai iced tea.
Fair fare 4 lunch. Lunch seems like the appropriate meal to eat at Sawaddee. Meat/Vegetable/Tofu plates come with rice and soup. Never seen a thai menu organized according to the sauces, but it makes it fairly easy to pick what you want and then add the meat or vegetables. I had Tom Kha Kai — which is the traditional Thai coconut milk & chicken stock-based soup flavored with galangal root — which I like to eat with tofu rather than chicken. The soup was served hot, but a little watery, still the flavor was still very good. I followed the soup with a Rad Na noodle dish. Typically, this dish is served with wide rice noodles in a brown soybean gravy with broccoli. Sawaddee’s version came in brown gravy that was topped with a fried egg, meat (ground beef, I think), and spinach. It was okay but not what I was expecting.
Killer Tofu. Sawaddee has some great Thai food. They have quite an extensive menu, including my favorite dish: Mango Curry. I definitely recommend it.
With the good, theres the bad. I had one of the best dumplings here I’ve had in a while. The shrimp was tender and flavorful and the presentation was dainty and over the top. The only problem was that the portion was too small. I’m not saying I want a mound of dumplings.. i do appreciate the quality and presentation, and I know they have to make $$ somehow. I do think that for $5, you should get more than two-especially if you’re sharing with a friend or special someone. After visiting places in Australia that offer 15 dumplings of all varieties for $5…a pair for the same amount seems just a bit CHEAP!! I also had the Red curry with beef..the flavor was there for sure (very spicy) but the meat was a lacking flavor and quite over cooked. The portion again was a bit tiny for the price of $9, especially if you’re sharing.
It’s OK Asian. I have eaten Thai all over the US and Thai is my favorite food. This place is just OK and is not spectacular. It did not really stand out for me. Definitely did not take Asian fare to a different level for me at all which is what I need to taste for me to rate it as good or great. It has to be a little different and this place did not do it for me. For example compared to Aspara on Hope Street, this place pales in comparison. (Maybe someday I will see if there is sometime on the Sawaddees menu that is better ).
