Heaven. Venda Ravioli is a great place with a terrific atmosphere. I am from tampa and nothing can compare to this and those twice a year delicacies are delectable. With a wide selection of italian cuisine and fresh food, it’s great. They have a store where you can buy loaves of bread and italian items. You walk in there and choose whatever you want and sit down with a limonata and outside is a beautiful fountain. They even have an expresso bar with savory gelato. Overall, this is a great establishment and i lokk foward to it.
If I had to eat in the same place for a week straight. This would be it. Cannot believe someone called it a tourist trap.. You can get a fresh sub and amazing side dishes for around $8 and the selection is awesome..
Ravioli for home. When you’re short on cash, buying ravioli here and cooking it at home is a good alternative to eating at the Federal Hill establishments. They have a large selection of fillings.
A bigbfacade. I grew up 1 block away from this place in the 50’s and 60’s….At one time, wnen the original owners made only pasta it was the real deal. Now under present ownership, it is for tourists only. The prepared food is dreadful. What is worse is the traditions that they seemed to have forgotten.i saw a customer ask for a rather large piece of cheese to be cutnin half and the man at the counter refused.Courtesy like this would have never been permitted in the ‘ol days. My advice….shop elsewhere!
Veni Vidi Vici Venda. I take the time to shop at Venda Raviolli every other week. My staples include fresh mozzarella @ $6/pound, fresh frozen pasta for about $2/bag, and Maria’s Picos olives @ $5.50/pound which is a fine price for these oil cured orange zest soaked beauties. The prepared foods section is loaded with $6/pound offerings of tremendous variety and quality. I don’t know about you, but when I buy things by the pound and they are of high quality and in the $7/pound range, I consider it a find. I personally have not found much merit in their sauces (I make a far superior putanesca with little effort) and the price on the ravioli keeps it in my special occasion bin. All in all, a surprising value can be had from this gourmet shop on the hill.
The closest you can get to a New York deli in Rhode Island
