Big disappointment. Four friends and I went to Wes’ Rib House for dinner on Sunday. There were only two other tables occupied — and this should have been a sign to us. We hand’ t been there for several years, and the food and service aren’t what they used to be. Our food came out in several stages: we got our appetizers (mediocre), then our chips (waffle-cut fries, which were ok), then 10 minutes later, four of us got our sandwiches. The waitress claimed that it was the cook’s first day, and he’d missed the fifth sandwich. (Wasn’t the new cook being trained and supervised?) We waited about 15 more minutes for the last person’s hamburger. None of the food was good: my chopped barbeque sandwich was bland and served on a cheap, white hotdog roll with boring coleslaw. All of the my friends’ hamburgers had cheese that was cold, and two of the hamburgers, which had been ordered medium rare, were raw in the middle and utterly inedible. The server was apologetic, but it didn’t improve the whole experienceThe space is interesting to look at and could be a great place. Oddly, there was no background music and no sound coming from the big-screen tv over the bar. Too bad the food, service and atmosphere didn’t rise to the level of the interior design.

Used to be great. The chile and cornbread were good. However, the ribs were awful! Undercooked and tough. The coleslaw was iffy to say the least. Huge disappointment. I was surprised when we pulled up and it was so empty. I understood after we ate why it was so empty

Used to be so good. This place used to be legendary. Amazing BBQ with people driving up from New Jersey or New York just to taste it. At some point in the past ten years, it was remodeled with a weird Western theme and the quality steadily declined. Now, I’d rank it about equal with Chili’s or Applebee’s except more expensive and not as clean. Oh man, do I miss the old place!

Wes’ Rib House disappoints. The meal was a disappointment. The pulled pork had no consistency. I expect my pulled meat to have chunks of meat in it, this was just mush, and it had salad in it (small chunks of carrot and other green stuff). The chicken was burnt on the outside, and cold on the inside. The waitress apologized and brought me another chicken, which was burnt on the outside and warm in the middle. My wife got the ribs which were burnt on the outside, tough, dry and chewy. The beans were sour (too much vinegar??). The cornbread was great. I know an open pit wood fire is supposed to make great meat, but if you char the outside of everything, then everything tastes the same. We’ll not be going back again
