Faux Vegan Friendly, made me sick, overpriced, slow service, dripping in grease, small portionsI am so disappointed after all the hype my friends gave this restaurant. I seek out the small mom and pop, hole in the wall, true to the ethnic roots food and always have great meals. This overpriced, small portion meal made me sick. Would have been 1000% better off going to Taco Bell.I looked at their menu online which is NOT the menu in their restaurant I found out. I called 2 days ahead and told them the day and time I would be there, asked are their vegan options. Chef/owner ASSURED me there were many on the menu, they had specials that could be adapted, and he was happy to whip something up for me, too. I saw on the obsolete menu on line that they had a stir fry that looked like it could easily be made vegan, I asked and was told yes, stir fry was no problem.Arrived Saturday at 11:20am. No specials that day. Chef was not in, only options was the coconut lime adzuki bean burrito. Fine. Food arrived 12:10pm. Hate to see how long a special order would take. About the size of a taco bell bean burrito for $1.25 at Taco Bell, only this was with a fried tortilla dripping in grease. Who cooks beans in canned coconut milk? No veggies in with the beans, just beans and some flax seed chips on the side. The grease and fat from the coconut milk sat on my stomach like a brick, I just wanted to throw up. Friends tacos were just as skimpy and unfilling appearing.Summary: $11 for a small, greasy, bland at best, nasty tasting burrito that took 45 minutes to prepare. I did not know Aiken has an Indian Restaurant, Taj Aiken. I stumbled on it walking around after lunch trying to get my food to digest. They have 13 vegetarian options and many non-veg, too. I bet they know when to use canned coconut milk! THAT will be my choice next time in Aiken!

We’ll be back. We’ve eaten lunch here several times and have never been disappointed. Healthy delicious food and great service. We celebrated my retirement with a small dinner party here and Cindy and staff were most accommodating. The crab cakes were delicious. Follow the menu offerings in the Aiken Standard and make a point to have dinner when they serve Key Lime Pie for dessert. It’s the best you’ll find south of the Arctic circle .
