This place is great! It has potential to get very crowded and definitely delivers if you wait in line. The atmosphere is that of eclectic Asheville and the menu is full of smoothies, coffee, soup, and paninis. I had the crab bisque and loved it. It’s creamy, a tad spicy, and full of crab. My boyfriend really liked the potato salad (mayo based) and said his pimento cheese and bacon panini was great. I also got a chocolate milkshake and I’m still happily sipping away. I’ll be back in the morning for coffee and fresh pastries!

What the cooks wants. Now I know why I haven’t been to the New Moon in 15 years (besides being in other states working); I figured I give it a try. So on a Thursday about 1:30 PM (well after the ‘rush hour’, I entered, placed my specific order paid and sat to wait for soup as I requested first before the sandwich, several minutes later I was informed that they were out of the soup I ordered and did I want one of the others in replacement, I chose NO and was refunded cash vs. credit on my card (which I paid initially). 25 Minutes later I received my sandwich, NOT as I ordered, I requested that the onions and mushrooms be cooked rather than raw, and very light cheese. I was not surprised considering the extended wait time, the quality of the sandwich ,onions and mushrooms were raw, I just passed it up as the cook knows how to make sandwiches only one way – their way!! At least they survive on other customers wanting run of the mill sandwiches and drinks, they will not have to worry about my patronage or referrals here on out.

GREAT EATS. Oh my goodness, was it good.. we went sat for lunch and it couldn’t have been better! You feel very at home in this local joint that roasts their own coffee beans, very cool we thought. My husband had the Summer Salmon Sammie which is he still talking about and I had the G-Love Pannini which was OUT OF THIS WORLD. We ended our meal with a Green Monster and a Real Fruit Smoothie with Chia seeds…. Both, we’re delicious. Can’t say enough good things New Moon, many thanks!

Response. Mo,First, I would like to thank you for your thoughts on your last visit to The New Moon in Aiken, SC. I appreciate the time you took to share and will carefully consider your points of view. Thanks for the thumbs up on the coffee. We pride ourselves in serving only the highest quality coffee, fresh roasted right next door. You will not find a fresher roast anywhere in Aiken unless, of course, you are dining at one of our many wholesale clients establishments. We prepare our menu items on-site daily where freshness is a priority. As a Fresh on the Menu restaurant with the Certified South Carolina Grown Program, we purchase in season, local product from several neighborhood vendors. These items include local produce, honey, meat and cheese. As the market for local product becomes more readily available, we carefully consider what we can bring in farm fresh to our customers, while still giving them a great value. If we fall short of our goal to bring the freshest product to your table, my staff and I will make every effort to correct the error. Getting great tasting, local, fresh, food out quickly to our busy customers is my ultimate goal. I never want to serve food that would disappoint me if I were the guest. This requires everyone to be on point and ready at all times. Sometimes, regardless of our preparation, we fall short and need to adjust. This can be very stressful. It is ultimately my job as the manager to get us back on track. I try to do this swiftly and with professionalism. If in my quest to deliver, I was not professional, I am truly sorry. I too need to adjust and remember my role as a leader. I appreciate the head check and will be more diligent moving forward. Again, as always, my objective is to make you happy. I am glad for the feedback and the opportunity to have a chance to speak to your concerns. I can be contact directly at the caf should you wish to do so.Sincerely, Anita Padgett

Eh… The coffee is amazing. I would definitely say best in town… not like thats actually saying something considering this is Aiken, SC. The food… definitely not worth it for the price. Maybe if I was eating organic/locally grown product, including the deli meat. This food obviously was mass produced. You can taste it. I might as well go home and make myself a cold cut. Also, one of the managers was very rude and had a horrible attitude last time I was there. I would rather not name names, but considering I do love this coffee and will be spreading the word of this discourtesy until she is gone, her name is Anita.

Has gone downhill over the years. Bagels are often stale and probably not made fresh each day.

Marvelous!. New Moon Cafe is such a wonderful gem in aiken. It’s quaint and everyone that works there is extremely friendly. THE COFFEE, THE COFFEE. That alone makes this place worth it, but in all honesty, being there makes me feel like I am in the living room of my grandparents. Some people, when venturing to a restaurant, don’t want that kind of atmosphere. But if you do (with all the quirkiness, mistakes, time delays, patience) then this place is well worth a try! Keep up the great work new moon!
