Dinners. We have been to this restaurant 5 times over the past year . we found the setting charming and hoped to make it one of our favorites, but alas the service has only degraded with each visit, the last one being we were seated and left alone for 30 minutes, no drinks ,no food , no staff to take our order, they were not even aware we left, how sad we will not be back.
This was an amazing surprise for quaint little Aiken. I had the grouper, my wife got scallops risotto and my son opted for the bacon cheeseburger off of the public house menu. For an appetizer we ordered the Holy Trinity (crab, shrimp, and crawfish dip) with crostini. The food was perfectly seasoned and absolutely delicious. I very peculiar when it comes to too much salt and Up Your Alley was amazingly well done. The service was beautifully executed and we will definitely be returning soon!!!
I went there with my parents and brother last night for dinner and everything was over salted! The only thing we had that we all actually liked were the potato skins. I had the crab stuffed pork chop, which was over cooked and dry and the garlic mashed potatoes didn’t really seem to have garlic in them, just too much salt. My brother had the shrimp and grits, which he normally loves, but couldn’t even finish because it was over salted. My mother had the mussels with a very bad excuse for crostini; they were pretty much just badly sliced cheap, white bread that were barely toasted. Normally mussels are served with linguini, hot red peppers and Italian parsley. If other people find their steaks good, then that’s fantastic for them. My dad had a steak, which was a thinly cut piece, loaded with msg, and it cost $24. Needless to say we’re not going back to the Chophouse again any time soon.
Great steaks – it is a chophouse (duh) – smooth jazz and a dancing lady. Does it get much better than that during Masters Week? I think not.
Quiet and Pleasant Surprise. It’s a yes for us. Heard about this restaurant from our neighbor and decided to check it out for ourselves. The atmosphere was cozy. The waitress was a delight. The owner was gracious and shared a bit of information about himself and both his restaurants.. The cost was pricey. My husband enjoyed his Ribeye and I enjoyed my Chicken Alfredo. Nestled in a choice location among other historic sites and eateries with warm and inviting friendly sounds; a promising signature of Aiken, downtown.
I thought it was really good. Loved the fauxtinis, and they were some stiff drinks, but true to their names. The egg rolls (which weren’t on the menu) and the won tons were fabulous. Didn’t get the wedge salad, but they looked fabulous. The salad I did get was really good though, as was the dressing. I had the scallops as my main course, which were one of the specials and were pretty good. Not great, but not a disappointment either. The sauce on them was a bit blah. The sides were pretty bland, too and had been under a heat lamp a little too long. Dessert was good. The peanut butter pie was really light, so for my taste could have been a little more peanut buttery and a little less whipped cream…ery. Service was pretty good. She disappeared occassionally for a little too long, but overall not bad at all.
Nothing but great things to say about the new and improved Up Your Alley! I’ve ordered the hot and original wings several times and they are always good. The time I came in to eat I ordered the pimento cheese wontons and they were remarkable. My NY strip was marinated and seasoned perfectly as well as cooked exactly how I like it. I highly recommend Kyndall, she was my waitress that night. She was very knowledgable of the menu and gave us great service. All in all, fantastic!
