If you have read some of my other reviews, you know I really don’t care about ‘atmosphere’. Zorba’s is not much in that regard, but it was pretty laid back and very few people for a Saturday evening (though more were coming as we were finishing). It was clean and that’s good enough for me. It really kind of looks like it used to be a diner or something like that. But that’s way too much information about atmosphere from someone who claims they don’t care about it.We got two Greek platters to share and a kid’s menu pita pizza, with spanakopita as an appetizer. The spanakopita was pretty good; the filo was crispy, the spinach and cheese worked well together and none of the flavors dominated or overpowered. It was a tiny bit on the smaller side, just a smidge larger than a Hot Pocket and cut into four slices with tomato, cucumber, and shredded cheese garnish. There’s a ‘Greek’ salad that comes with the platter- much like a house salad in most places but with a couple of pepperoncinis and a ton of shredded cheese…possibly feta. The Greek platter was good, it had gyro meat, and chicken and pork souvlaki, a more than adequate container of tzatziki, one piece of pita sliced into quarters, and your choice of side…I opted for the grilled broccoli- I really enjoyed being given a veggie alternative to starchy sides (rice, potatoes, or fries). The pork souvlaki was well-marinated and flavorful, the gyro meat was good (not great, not bad), and the chicken was just a tad bland. The broccoli was good and tastefully seasoned. The tzatziki tasted like there’s a possibility it’s made there…good stuff at any rate. The thing about this place is that the bottom floor has a couple of pool tables, a foosball table, a basketball game, etc. I don’t know if you have to ask them to be seated downstairs and turn the stuff on or if you have to reserve it in advance, but I’m considering having a get-together here with some folks from work. Overall, good place that I’d go back to again. Good food, friendly wait staff, potentially a fun place. The one negative is that I didn’t see Ouzo anywhere on the menu. Greek food without Ouzo is like Penn without Teller.
Pizza was awful. Soggy crust. So soggy it falls apart when trying to eat. I have never had canned mushrooms on a pizza before. Ingredients not fresh at all. And to top it off our Oder was wrong when it hit the table. Will never be back.
Not awful. Not great. We got a simple pizza with pepperoni and extra cheese. Ordering extra cheese was a mistake. I love cheese and all but this was about a half inch thick of cheese on top of a barely sauced pizza. The crust on the outer edges is excellent but inside is a soggy mess. Eating this pizza with your hands is near impossible. The Diet Coke was strong…like the syrup adjuster is cranked way to the top. And lastly the baklava tasted as if had been in a freezer for a few weeks. We might go back to try the Greek food or a sandwich but probably not for the pizza.
