Excellent brunch spot! My husband and I both had the steak and eggs which came with asparagus, herb potatoes, bacon, and 3 eggs all drizzled with a bit of the chef’s steak sauce. It was SO much food and so very delicious! The prices are good especially considering what you get! I would eat there again just to try their dinner menu. The vibe is very classic southern and very comfortable. We were seated by the front windows, which was lovely for watching the happenings of the city. Great overall experience.
Perfect! Tuna with ham and sweet potato hash was stellar. The hash alone would make a brilliant snack. Perfectly cooked tuna. The sweetgrass mussels simply are the Low Country in a shell. The cocktail I choose was a gin cocktail with lime, mint and soda with a bit of simple syrup. Perfectly crisp and just the thing after a longish walk from Blue Bicycle Books on King. My girls loved the cheese so much, the waiter had more brought to them on the house. Our waiter was quietly gracious, very knowledgable about the food and drink pairings. All the rest of the staff was similarly gracious and attentive.
We had a beautiful evening at High Cotton last night. From the cocktails to salad to the evening’s specials to the chocolate souffl to the espresso, everything was perfect. Our server, Andrew, made excellent recommendations and made sure our meal was timed perfectly. High Cotton is a great place for a romantic evening in Charleston.
Elegant Southern Charm With Food To Match. Had our last meal of the three days at this fine spot and a good way to end our weekend.Menu was varied but not seafood centric. Ambience was very very nice. Only issue I might have had is being out off in the anteroom which does not have the same vibe as the main dining space and would not sit in here again. Half the experience is the space. My dining partner ordered the locally caught swordfish and I opted for gumbo and a bibb lettuce salad that had fried green tomatoes on it as well. Plenty of food for me and enjoyed every bite. Even had to leave a few bites of salad from being full.Hot pull apart rolls with whipped butter come to the table as well.Nice wine list and some inventive cocktails. I tried the Palermo, tequila with grapefruit and salted rim. It was tasty. Friend had a glass of a Syrah blend out of France.Priced a level or two above a place like Magnolia’s for perspective but very good indeed.18 Jan, 2015Grilled Local Swordfish. Ok food at a high price. The food is good, but not as good as it should be at that price. The staff was very nice!
