Not sure I would wait 30 minutes for seating on a return visit. HomIny has a great selection of unique breakfast and lunch items that you wont find elsewhere. The chicken livers were prepared perfectly and tasty, but could have benefited from some onions and bacon! Home fries with three different potatoes also surprised, however onion was again needed to offset the blandness. Hush Puppies also needed a kick of sugar and salt. Salads also very good.

In a town known for food, its something when I tell you this is one of the best meals we had. For breakfast/brunch/lunch, you dont want to miss it!
It Used to Be BetterWe looked forward to our visit to Charleston for the Spoleto Festival. One reason was so that we could return to Hominy Grill. On previous trips we had really enjoyed both breakfast and lunch there. On this trip we went for dinner and it was just pretty good. The appetizer shrimp and crab beignets were rather bland. I has a short rib po boy on the specials menu and it was very good. For an included side I had a tomato and cornbread mix which was extra tasty. My wife had the shrimp and grits in her quest to find the best version in Charleston. This didnt measure up to some others we had. Her collard green side was very good. Our daughter had a 3 veg plate which was good. For dessert we tried their somewhat famous chocolate pudding. We saw nothing special about it, although it was nicePrices arent too bad, the place is attractive and the servers were all nice.Unfortunately, I wont be craving a visit to Hominy Grill on our next trip to Charlestonespecially when there are so many excellent restaurants in town.
Good spot to taste southern specialties like – Fried Green Tomatoes, She-crab soup, Shrimp & Grits, Jalapeo hush puppies, and the like. Bookings available for dinner if you can’t be bothered lining up at lunch (apparently the queue can be long?!). Friendly service and helpful advice in picking some local dishes.maybe slightly overpriced but trades on the name and worth a trip nonetheless.
The pimento cheese sandwich is to die for! Definitely one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I’m in Charleston. The place is very small, and the wait is usually long but it’s definitely worth it. They don’t take reservations which is really my only problem. If you can eat outside on the patio.
Wow! Where do I start? I saw this place featured on delicious destinations. It did not disappoint. The curry shrimp with rice was by far the best. The shrimp and grits were just as good. They had an interesting twist on some classic drinks and they were tasty! I would definitely come back.
