Good little breakfast place with a friendly staff. I was most impressed with their beverage list – lots of different coffee options and they have fresh squeezed orange juice with is delicious! We both got the classic breakfast- the home fries are delicious- really crispy! The biscuits are HUGE and taste fresh and fluffy! They only serve one piece of toast…it must be a Charleston thing.
We had the Eggs Meeting Street; it’s like Eggs Benedict with a twist. The dish consists of a crispy fried green tomato topped with a delicious crab cake, poached egg and a creamy remoulade sauce. On the side we had home fries that were crispy on the outside with a fluffy potato center and a buttery buttermilk biscuit that is the size of your head! The only thing that could’ve taken this meal to a 5 would be if there had been some artisan jams or apple butter available.
Whats the Fuss?I see lots of glowing reviews for this place. Whats the fuss? Its really nothing more than a (slightly) glorified Dennys. Because people we were visiting Charleston with wanted to go there, we ended up eating at toast for a breakfast and a lunch. The staff is pleasant. The place is a little chaotic and the furnishings are in rough shape. Prices are OK.Breakfast was standard diner food. The she-crab soup at lunch was good.Toast is fineand nothing more.
Nice place. Loved the Sweet Tea Glazed Chicken! They had a good selection and were very reasonably priced. The service was good and I’d definitely visit again.
Absolutely amazing from start to finish. Service was friendly and efficient, yet chill and laid back. Totally comfortable atmosphere. Great location within walking distance to the rest of downtown, shops, hotels, etc. An absolute MUST try is the Dulce Cinnamon Vanilla Double Espresso Cappuccino. I’m a bit of a coffee snob ad this may quite possibly be the best coffee drink I’ve ever had. I had the Eggs Benedict with Home Fries and it was also delicious. Hollandaise sauce was perfect, as well as the ham and the English muffin underneath. All delicious. The only reason I didn’t give it a 5 was because my dish didn’t come out hot, more lukewarm. Still delicious and I devoured it, just the same…but a bit warmer would have made the entire experience PERFECT. Keep up the great quality and service. Can’t waitto come back!!
It was a great environment and a decent menu. Our waiter was the friendliest of the trip and actually carried on a conversation while teaching us some trivia about Charleston. I had the house omelet with home fries while my girlfriend enjoyed the fried green tomato crab cake Benedict. My only complaint would be that the grits were slightly underseasoned, but I will definitely recommend this venue to those coming into town.
Our waitress was awesome, she was super sweet and engaged in actual conversation with us. We got large portions of yummy food, and didn’t even think about the price which didn’t end up being all that bad either!
