I know why there were many tables open. The food was mediocre at best I had a cheeseburger. I mean meatball that had cheese. It sat a top a soggy English muffin which lead me to believe a microwave was involved. My husbands crab cakes were very small and overly seasoned with old bay seasoning. They sat upon an unappealing moat of creamed corn concoction. The onion soup I had as a starter was devoid of any broth. Imagine a crock of onions slathered with cheese and melted into a bowl of glop I didn’t really eat all of any of my items. And wasnt asked once why I hadn’t from the server. What a bust. Off the list
Awesome meal and dining experience. We enjoyed an awesome meal at Hege’s last weekend. The food was superb and the service was excellent. Everything we had was delicious. It was a memorable meal and we can’t wait to come back!
Heges is a very good restaurant with a friendly staff. The food is very good. It is probably about 30% overpriced . . . The specials are around 38.95 when you can eat comparable or even nicer restaurants downtown for 27.95 a plate. . . Great food, very good service, just overpriced.
Went there twice. Awesome restaurant! Had trouble finding some good spots to eat on Kiawah and Seabrook (without driving too far) and Hege’s delivered. The Freshfield’s Market is a great area to hang out as well…. First night ate at the bar- excellent service and a solid menu with seemed like dozens of specials. Our food was delicious!!! Stuffed ourselves and our two fish entrees were prepared very well- a bit heavy on the rich sauces and light on side veggies and potatoes but no biggie. Second visit was equally tasty, with continued great service. Made a point to tell one of the managers how awesome everything was. Hege (the owner) works hard in the kitchen and it shows. House salad (an often ignored item at eateries) was SO GOOD!! Even the bread served at the table was great. Only real issue- Price. Very expensive… 38-39.00 dishes, which seem a tad high for skimping on some of the items on your plate. But taste and service make up for it and you’ll leave happy. Looking forward to out next vacation and trip to Hege’s.
WOW!. Looking for a celebratory spot and really lucked out here….had never heard of it before and inquired about restaurants in the Freshfield’s Village online. Menu looked great….had some of the best food we’ve had in Charleston- and that’s saying a lot. Our server was Ian…Rhode Island boy w/ a great sense of humor and vicious wit. Truly attentive and entertaining w/o being intrusive. Extensive knowledge, too, which was appreciated. Will definitely be requesting him EVERY time we go back. I had the Chilean Seabass in coconut cream sauce w/ jasmine rice and asparagus. Husband had the lamb special with the onion rings, spinach and mashed potatoes. Started off with the housemade pate and the escargot. Fantastic. Whole experience was a pleasure and excited they’re less than 15min away….
Hege’s is awesome. We just finished dinner there and it could not have been better. The food was fantastic. The service was great. We will go back. I highly recommend it.
