I love that there is a place I can go in my city with healthy options. all the food is fresh and you feel great after eating. It’s crazy how delicious the food is, especially the tacos.
We’ve been playing with assorted vegan recipes and substitutes so several things were familiar. Ordered the sampler. The kale salad was incredible, and we both loved different things (he loved eggplant bacon wrap, I loved taco, we both liked zucchini noodles with pad thai), so there’s probably something you’ll dig! Try it!*service was a little wonky, but it was worth the patience.
Ditto on Mike Smythe’s review. Our server was SLOW. Not so for the rest of the staff. It was a clash of over-seasoning and I love vegan food so it was disappointing. I do appreciate the menu being GF though.
Go for the kale salad alone! I’ve tried a couple different dishes here including the eggplant bacon wrap and pimento less cheese wrap. Both were fresh, very flavorful and hearty portions. Rave reviews for the kale salad side!
Created by those who watch too much food network….. This is a very up-to-date restaurant, especially for this area. Granted, it is brand new and they have some kinks to work out–ok–a lot of kinks to work out. My gut feel is that it was created by someone who has never run a restaurant before but who has gleaned a lot of ideas from popular design and foodie media. The business just isn’t flowing yet. The kitchen is slow, the house staff and kitchen staff didn’t appear to be working together much, and the house was overstaffed, but none of them seemed to know what to do with all their free time. The menu hasn’t been finalized yet (at least I hope that is the reason it is still a stapled stack of paper). My biggest question, where was the owner? For a place that has only been open a month I would expect to see someone who appeared in charge at least 2 or 3 times while I’m there. Like I said, kinks. All things that can be worked out with some time and attention from the owner. However, owner seems to have a good idea of how to make all the pieces come together very consistently; everything feels well thought out and purposeful. Except for the food. I appreciate the effort they made to create a menu that is very friendly to vegetarians, which I personally appreciate (they are gluten-free friendly, but that isn’t a strong selling point for me). However, I don’t appreciate my veggies swimming in oil. The kale was perfectly cooked, but the dressing that was put on was so strong and in so much abundance that I couldn’t finish the small side without gagging through it. It wasn’t bad dressing, it was just way too much of it–I could barely taste the kale. The sandwich I had was beautifully made, it had an abundance of good veggies, and it had a good crust–but it didn’t work together at all. The crust was too hard to eat easily with a fork and too crumbly to eat with you hands. The crust was sweet, but the dressing used inside the sandwich was savory; sweet and savory can work very well together, but in this case both were strong and clashed for attention. Overall, it was just too much flavor on the plate. Individually each piece would have been very good, but put together it was just too much and made it unenjoyable. In the end, I just wanted to wash it all down and forget it ever happened. Once more, this has all the individual pieces to be great, but has a lot of kinks to work out before it gets there. For now, my palate has no desire to go back and get assaulted with untamed, conflicting flavors.
BBQ buffet and meat lovers GIVE THIS A TRY-they serve wine & beer too. The food is absolutely delicious so all BBQ buffet lovers and meat eaters need to give this a try at least once before you exclude or judge it. No, Im not going to tell you that eating their vegan burger tastes just like a big ol juicy burger from Fat Boys; it is just as tasty and flavorful. They have way more than just salads (pizza, tacos, queso, wraps) and not only that, but the presentation of the plate and amounts are impressive. The dcor is very pleasing and you will notice that they left the original floor which adds to the architectural interest of the interior. They have a very nice bar (YES! They serve wine and beer). Give this a try, you will not be disappointed. And just so you know, raw, healthy food is more expensive and it is NOT fast food. Be patient it will take some time to bring your food. However, as was a problem with their West Columbia location, the service needs work especially with the downtown lunch crowd. The servers are personable however; they dont get in any hurry. It takes them forever to bring the menus, to come back and get your order, bring you your check etc. While we were there for 1.5 hours, we saw two tables get up and leave. : – ( we really want this place to make it. Columbia needs this.
WOW You MUST try this place…. WOWYou MUST try this placeThe food was amazing!
