Good but basic. Most adventurous item is the sauce. I recommend flavoring your chips with the sauce. Maybe the grouchos company will to do something like lays or Doritos but until then, it’s a basic deli that uses decent bread and meats. The sauce is the ticket
If you say you went to Carolina and don’t love this place, I question whether you actually went to school here. Eating at Grouchos is synonymous with the college experience in Columbia. Obviously, the go-to menu item is the STP.
Not worth the hype. This place is always packed, and I’ve eaten here at least 25 times in my life, because in college it was the place to go to meet people for lunch. They are semi-famous for their STP-dipper, but the problem is their secret sauce has way too much dill in it (the ‘secret’ is a ton of thousand island dressing mixed with dill). The sandwiches are too big to easily dip into the tiny plastic cup they give you. The seating area is very dated, dirty, and run down. Sandwiches are thrown together as quickly as possible without much thought to them. I realize it’s deli food, but doesn’t it make sense to put the cheese on TOP rather than under the bacon bits so they don’t all fall out when you try to dip it? Place is almost completely staffed by students, which is great for employing them, but they seem to not care much since they work their a few months then quit for something else. Time has passed this place by.
Lunch. Salad bowl was delicious & service was great! Seating area in the back of the restaurant is run down.
Go with the STP melt with formula 45. Delicious

What’s the Fuss About?. I don’t understand. Andy’s and Groucho’s taste the same (not an accident), and both offer salty deli cold cut sandwiches and chips. Nothing special, but it’s been around for decades somehow. I guess it’s a good lunch for people who enjoy stuff you could make at home. It wasn’t terrible but honestly it just seemed average.
