Always a great lunch dining experience!. Was introduced to NO NAME several years ago by a native. Have enjoyed the Greek salad, sandwiches, and most recently, an awesome shrimp salad on lettuce. Its just perfect the way it is, and hopefully, the way it will be into the future…its a Southern version of a NYC deli.
Only the BEST sandwich shop in Columbia, bar none.. This place is a Columbia institution for a reason. Crowds line up out the door every day during lunch for a reason. People put up with the cash-only policy happily for a reason. That reason? They make the best darn sandwiches in Columbia, and they make them for really good prices. No other lunch spot even comes close to No-Name for great flavors or great value. EVERYBODY in Columbia eats here, regardless of social class. I’ve seen senators, janitors, school teachers, lawyers, computer programmers, nurses, migrant workers, daycare workers, cops, shop clerks, and clergy here, among many others. Great food is a great equalizer for everyone at the No-Name. Everyone has their own personal favorite sandwich, but I really like their egg salad on rye bread (with lettuce, tomato, bacon, and swiss cheese). The pastrami is fantastic too, the chicken salad is really good, and the turkey reuben is the best reuben I’ve ever had. It’s so tasty, I can’t even describe it. Order a turkey reuben with a bowl of soup on the side (all their soups are tasty, and the white chili is great on wintry days when you want something to warm you up and stick to your ribs), and you’re set to go with a huge amount of wonderful food that costs less than a trip to McDonalds. If you’re not up for soup, the fries are amazing.Seriously, don’t be put off if the line is really long when you come in. No-Name’s servers and expediters know how to move food to lots of people super-fast. Even if the line wraps around the building, you’ll still get your food in a very reasonable amount of time. Partly this is because a lot of people come in as regulars, and as soon as the staff sees their face, they know immediately what that person will want to order. Faithfulness from customers (and awareness from staff) like that is always the sign of a good restaurant, and No-Name is definitely one of the best in Columbia.
