Great atmosphere – good food – competitive prices. Food, atmosphere (outside screened deck right on beautiful tidal river and marsh with a real working shrimp boat tied up), and bar all under new and greatly improved management for more than a year now. Freshest local seafood is outstanding – apparently the new cooks know their stuff!If they have a special on soft-shell crabs, try them!Will definitely return to Edisto Beach for more.

Worst Waitress I’ve EVER Had!. Avoid the red head. 30 minutes to get a drink, an hour for food (which was fried mush – oysters and shrimp). The place never had more than 4 tables while we were there. Got the order wrong, tried to make us keep it anyway. No check back, no offer for a refill. We sat for 5 minutes while the waitress made out with the side of some guys face at the bar. I had to walk up to her and give her my debit card, while she was mid make out session to get my bill paid. I regret the 10% tip I gave. She deserved to be fired. The bathroom smelled awful and the restaurant is filthy. Dust coated the walls. Never again. Avoid like the plague that it is! Too expensive for sub par food also!
Stay Far Away. We have visited this restaurant each time we come to Edisto Island for many years. While it has not always been great food it has been good food and great service. This past week we walk in and find that someone new has purchased Dock Side and has changed it around. Not only that all of the staff has up and walked away. The food was just OK. Shrimp for my wife and a 4 oz Snapper filet for me with tea and water was $48.00. Service was super slow and that was strange since there was only one other table occupied at the time. Go to Waterfront on Jungle road or even The Jungle Shack for much better food.
Too expensive for what we go. After spending a day at the beach we were looking forward to a nice dinner at this place. I had shrimp and oysters and paid $25 which was fine if a little pricy. The shrimp and oysters were fresh and I didn’t mind paying the price. My boyfriend, however, got the buffett which was the same price and was not nearly as good. Plus, that atmosphere in this place isn’t that great. The place knows that they have a captive audience. I don’t think that there are too many other places to eat in the area. I would recommend splitting an entree to save money and whatever you do, don’t order the buffett. You will get ripped off!
AWFUL!. We have tried this place on 2 separate trips to Edisto and found the food to be greasy and service to be slow. We found the Waterfront restaurant and it is much better food and service.
Classic and unique. Dockside has great stuffed crab and flounder. Nothing fancy, just fresh seafood prepared well. The unique dish is the fish stew served with the salad bar. Tomato based, it is sort of a Carolina cioppino.
