I go to the Seafood Academy when I get up to Columbia. The atmosphere is really pleasant and the staff are friendly. I love the salmon and the salads are fresh and delicious. The Mac and Cheese is out of this world.
Do not eat here unless you waw to give away your money. Crab legs were salty and soft this was terrible
Service is extremely slow. We waited over and hour for two entrees. They have a great menu selection but do not deliver on the quality dishes in the menu. Seafood is frozen, very greasy, and poorly prepared. Crab cakes came out resembling hockey pucks they had been burned so badly. Overall it has potential but needs serious restructuring in the wait staff and kitchen.
I wanted to like it but could not. The restaurant was half empty and we still waited to be seated, and once there things did not improve. No waiter came for at least 20 minutes and when he did it was clear that he lacked training. After an additional 15 or so minutes our food orders were put in. After a 30 minute ticket time our food came out but 3 out of 4 people had errors in their order. The food that came out was not hot, tasteless and totally forgettable. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
Don’t waste your money!. We had lunch today at Seafood Academy located in Richland Mall. Although we were only the second table occupied, the service was horrible. Had to wait for our drinks and even longer for our food! They must ration the ice because there was so little of it, the drinks were barely chilled. The salad when it arrived was wilted and tasted like it was left over from yesterday, not fresh like it should have been. When the entrees finally arrived, they were so salty that we could barely eat it. (We both ordered the shrimp dinner.) Finally had to remove the breading to be able to eat. The server had a smart comment when we asked for something. We watched the table next to us receive their meals one at a time (about 6 adults and 2 children). The manager passed our table several times without even acknowledging us. Overall, DON’T WASTE YOU TIME OR MONEY!
New columbia location. The servers and kitchen were improperly trained, the food was bland and tasteless…management/owner rude and disrespectful…some people never received the food ordered and staff was obviously not communicating with each other…will NEVER dine there again
I had dinner at the seafood academy on Friday. The food was excellent, and the service was superb. The restaurant was a home run. The next time I’m in town I will be eating here.
