You must make reservations during the busy summer months should you rather eat at Franks (inside) rather than franks outback (patio outdoor dining). We booked two days ahead for our party of 5. Upon arrival the evening of the reservation it was quite difficult to find parking as their small lot fills up quickly. When walking through the hedge entrance you are greeted by the patio dining scene and they have done an excellent job of separating the dining area from the busy parking lot and highway 17 with a fence and very high shrubs. With the pervious being said they have cultivated an immediate pleasant change in atmosphere as soon as you walk through their entrance. When we walked a little further to enter franks inside dining area we were greeted by fresh cheeses and bread and crackers for the guests who were waiting to be seated. But we were immediately whisked away to our reserved table, no time for free cheese and bread. The waitress arrived at the tiny table next to the bar and politely gave the table a run through of the specials of the day and took drink orders (the waitress had a very heavy north Jersey accent, does that matter? No. but when she spoke she was naturally quite loud which I got a kick out of). We eventually ordered our meals. I had scallops with mushroom risotto and a cream sauce with broccoli. The only complaint I had was the risotto could have been left on the heat just a few more minutes, had a few hard bites in the punch. Two other folks at the table ordered the duck done two ways, and no one had any complaints. Overall the meal was fantastic, from my causeway cooler (vodka drink) to the sweet tea and my meal it all was good. But if you are not looking to spend ehh…..$200 minimum for 5 people you are advised to go elsewhere. There are other fantastic places in the area that will give you double the portions for half the price (hanser house and quigleys). But if you want good atmosphere, excellent service and good food and do not mind paying for it then pick franks. It is more upscale (but there is no true dress code) it is a great place to celebrate a life achievement or milestone. But if you are on a budget, you can still have awesome local seafood Etc at other nearby eateries.
