Food average; service nonexistant. The restaurant was very slow the evening we stopped-in. We asked to be seated on the patio, and only one other party was out there. Our server did not come by for 10, or more, minutes. We ordered drinks and water and waited an additional 10 minutes for the water; the drinks took another few minutes. Our party all ordered ‘on-the-menu’ fare; no ‘special’ orders or ‘changes’ to the listed items. It was more than 30 minutes before our order was served. The food was just average; we expected more after the long-wait.
Customer. Food is very overpriced. Pizzas are ok and calzones are half the size of other pizza places. Would not go back to this place.
Mangia!. When you get tired of the overpriced tourist traps at Murrells Inlet and you want a refreshing change.Ya gotta go check out Gios! The decor was done by the owner ,you wont find tacky wall paper, dated draperies, washed out paneling here! Sophistication all the way.I was told the owners husband constructed the building and the quality shows! Love the tile in the ladies room. Service was awesome. My waitress was very sweet but in addition I think I had 4 servers as well.Even the owner dropped by my table.Everyone was so welcoming. They seemed as excited about the food as I was! Gio has a new menu and let me tell you, you wont be disappointed. We had the calamari appetizer. Now we know calamari (Im a Staten Islander there is nothing more to say) Very thin calamari with roasted peppers, calamata olives, bacon I think, and some other terrific ingredients. This is not calamari with ragu on top LOL Hubby had the clam sauce and pasta, terrifico with some proscuitto and peas. I had chicken saltimbocca.Superb! Gio has a contemporary flair all its own. There is also pizza which I did not try. But that means the kids will be happy too! They ‘re happy, we are happy. What more can you want. Our entrees were about $16 each and if I recall correctly the pizza starts at around $13. Wish I would have found this place sooner! Great place for date night too.Dim lights sets the mood. The night before we ate in a restaurant at the Inlet where the hostess had an attitude, the decor made me feel tired and the lights were enough to permanently blind! Thank You GIO we will see you again!
Just had Dinner at Gios for the second time in there new location. Sat in the bar area and enjoyed the food and Drink.Good service and food that you can taste. True Italian Cuisine. Nice Job
Excellent Italian dinners, great service!. Stopped in for dinner while vacationing in Pawley’s and was pleasantly surprised! I come from a predominantly Italian area of the northeast loaded with superb Italian eateries and Gio’s rates with the best of them. The pizza is outstanding along with the other dishes our party ordered and the service was first class. Gio’s will definitely be the first restaurant I visit on my next trip to the Pawley’s area. Ed F.14 Aug, 2013Best Italian Pizzeria In Pawleys Island. If you want gourmet, affordable Italian pizza and Cuisine, this is your local place. We love everyone there. A must go. Cathy Peterson14 Aug, 2013Outstanding new restaurant in Pawleys Island, SC. This is the second time I visited Gio’s and each meal was delicious each time. I brought some friends and they were equally impressed with the service and quality of the food. It has an authentic Italian flare and the entire evenings were excellent.
Needs Work. Ate at the new Gio’s. Fairly crowded for a Wednesday June 12, 2013. We sat at a high hat in the little bar. Wine and beer reasonable priced. We ordered four appetizers for the two of us. After ordering it took 15 minutes to tell us they were out of a shrimp dish. Then we waited. We wanted all four at once. Finally after a half hour the fried mozzerella arrived. It used to be a perfect square topped with marinara sauce. Now it was three huge balls and densely breaded. Way too much and not as good as the old. The other three appetizers arrived in an hour and ten minutes. Clams were tiny and way smaller than a little neck. The broth was outstanding but would have preferred a bigger clam. The caprese salad was very good. The fried eggplant was awful. Three huge rounds cut way to thick, heavily breaded and fried crisp. No real cheese just a few gratings and a clear sauce not marinara. The place was a good pizza parlor and had good simple Italian food at the old place like baked ziti. It appears they are trying to move toward a restaurant rather than a pizza parlor. It’s a nice place. Marinara sauce is great. Pizzas still fine. Menu and cocktails have gone foo foo. If they can’t get out four appetizers in less than an hour they are in trouble. They need to put more pasta dines on the menu. Stick to what they do best. Change eggplant app to an eggplant rolitini. Change the breading to a lighter mixture. Pizza is your gold standard and Gio’s should stick to the basic Italian they used to do best.
Went today. Food was good, service was OK.. cute little Italian place.
