We were refused service because of our well marked service dog. We were stopped at the door and told no dogs. I have always loved Pho 99 as a chain. Ive eaten there while living in Austin, TX as well as Broomfield, CO. Yesterday, my son and I were denied access because of my sons service dog. His service dog was clearly identified with his vest as well as the dogs public access ID and our handler IDs. The owner, Tim, said no pets allowed. I showed him he was clearly identified as a service dog. Tim said he knows, but no pets. I pointed out that ADA laws allow their handlers public access and Tim said he knows but doesnt care. I asked Tim to reconsider and that all we wanted to do was be a good customer. He said no and that we needed to leave. I went outside and contacted the Greenville Police. Three units responded and did what they could to educate Tim. Officers took pictures of our dog and validated his demeanor and credentials. After we talked to the police, a wonderful family that was in the restaurant at the time flagged us down. They wanted us to know that they were long-time customers of Pho 99 and they told Tim they wouldnt return after seeing what happened to us. I really appreciated that. This incident was really hard for my son, but it is what it is. I filed a report that will be pursued by the foundation that awarded my son his dog. I ask that you consider our experience in deciding if this is a place worthy of your business. I hope Tim chooses to obey ADA laws in the future. These laws arent subjective and not following them have profound impacts on the people the laws are there to protect.
Very tasty good food
I love their pho and the grilled pork. They are wonderful. However, I quit eating here because after being a loyal customer for ten years and having introduced dozens of people, the staff still treated me like a stranger for whom they never even mustered a smile. I came to my senses and realized that there are too many other restauranteurs that work hard to make their customers feel welcome. But the food is good.
