The Playwright, aptly named for its close proximity to local performance centers such as Centre Stage and The Peace Center, is an authentic Irish Pub and a member restaurant of High Street Hospitality Group. Jason Fletcher, High Street Hospitality Group and The Playwright owner, spent years living abroad, including treasured time spent working and residing in Ireland. Inspired by the pubs, landscape, and culture Fletcher knew Greenville would be the perfect home for a dose of the authentic taste of Ireland he had grown to love. To bring a taste of the Emerald Isle to the Upstate, l Irish Pubs, a firm based out of Dublin, was contracted to ensure a strict adherence to traditional Irish architecture, design and build. Certified by Guinness as one of only three builders of authentic Irish Pubs, the firm handcrafted The Playwright's entire front of house in their workshop on the ire Coast and readied their work for a voyage across the sea. Safely delivered in the port of Charleston, the materials made their way into The Playwrights' hearth. As you walk through our front doors we hope to transport you to the rolling hills of Ireland, where everything you see, ranging from woodwork, to etched Victorian glass, from flooring and painted ceilings & walls to our "P" shaped bar (for The Playwright of course) are engrained with authenticity. Our tables, chairs, stage, mirrored walls, and more all hail from Ireland's best craftsman and are unified under The Playwright's roof. Whether you are looking to enjoy a comforting evening and meal with friends and family, enjoy an act on our live stage, sample our array of domestic and imported draft beer at the bar, or host your event in our Whiskey Room or Stoker's Lounge, The Playwright welcomes you.
