Ehhhhhh. Plain burgers, flavorless fries. Doesn’t matter though, because the place is always full. Makes no sense.

What an amazing place! People working there are very polite and they seem to enjoy their job. Food is excellent. Onion rings are to die for! You can tell the Kerhoulas Family is back! People who are not just out to make a dollar… Truly enjoy being around people and care about what people want on a fast food restaurant. And everyone is welcome. Law enforcement too!

Onion rings. Crisp and crunchy – no limp rings like you get at the Beacon… I had a friend who swore by the Beacon’s onion rings until his daughter started at Lander. I told Geno that he had to try the Dixie’s… after that, for the entire time she was at Lander, when she came up on the weekends, she had to bring a few order of onion rings….May 2012 Update: My last two visits – the onion ring have been doughy and many are limp – undercooked, and the oil tasted old…. No longer a recommendation to my friends.11 Oct, 2011Comment on Comment. Not friendly anymore25 Jun, 2011Coming Back. May 2012: What started out as a comeback has fizzled. My last few visits – onion rings are doughy; french fries are limp; items cooked in cooking oil have the flavor of old oil; wieners overcooked; hamburger patty to bun ratio abysmal – no longer a favorite.First let me start off by saying that I worked at the Dixie back in the early 70s, and have eaten there way before then, so I feel comfortable making good and bad comments. I was there during the Angelo/Dino years, then into the Pete and Perry years. During that time, I was impressed with the friendly atmosphere – always being greeted when I came in – and when I would fly back from Germany, I would have just enough time to drop my bags at mom’s and dad’s and get there in time for a Dixie Cheese, 1/2 and 1/2, and cherry coke. And Pete or Perry whoever was working would come down and talk… The end of that era started with the death of Pete and ended with Perry’s retirement… But recently, the Kerhoulas ‘era’ has been revived with George and Gigi taking over… The food is back (I still have a friend who drives from Spartanburg for the onion rings) and the friendly atmosphere is on its way back – had a great talk with Gary on Friday and with Gigi on Saturday. As I told Gigi I had started going to another local restaurant since Perry retired – the food had gotten bland and well, let’s just say some people are suited to deal with the public and some are not… Pete, Perry, definitely! Gigi – definitely; George – well, I have not seen him since he was a teen – but I am sure Gigi will whup him into shape if he gets off track.FOOD: My personal favorite is a Dixie Cheesburger, slaw instead of lettuce, heavy mayo; 1/2 and 1/2 (that is 1/2 order of onion rings and 1/2 of fries); side order of cole slaw and Cherry Coke; My other favorites – not necessarily in order is the Dixie Special (minced BBQ sandwich); Roast Pork; Fried Chicken; and their hot dogs.

Overrated. The Dixie is the most overrated restaurant i’ve ever been to. period. The food is sub par, I really don’t understand why locals love this place so much. There is nothing outstanding about the food. Also the employees that work there look like they hate their life. I’ve never recieved service with a smile there or felt that it was a good atmosphere. However, If you really want a great burger place that has good service then I would suggest trying the Garden Grille in Greenwood. I love that place. Never been disappointed

The Dixie is an indulgence. Plain and simple. If you want good fast greasy food with great service, this is the place to go. Don’t forget the half and half!
