Dissappointed. For years me and friends would eat at Cannon’s for breakfast, lunch or dinner and it was the finest fare out there and at a reasonable price. I have come back on the average of once every three months for many years and I must say that the last three times I visited it has went downhill and the last time the prices had jumped a lot. One price is listed on the menu, another on the wall sign and another quoted from the waitress. The hot dogs have even gotten dry–the chili seemed warmed over too much and a bit scorched. (I didn’t review the first two times I found the food substandard because I was trying to give them the benefit of having a bad day, etc.; but with the prices going up, the service down and the food dry~~we won’t be back.
Good Staple Food. If you are in the mood for a burger or other standard clock, beacon, palmetto fine foods fare, you can’t beat cannons. Not everything is outstanding, but there is something for everyone. If you are not a ranch or honey mustard fan…don’t get salad. Calabash Chicken, Soup, and bologna egg and cheese on a bun is surly worth the trip and price! The older guy in the cooks shirt is the owner…how many times do you see a dedicated owner in their own facility filling drinks? Go Virgil!
A Legend. This restuarant has been around for a long time and is a family restuarant. The food is good and the portions are huge. No complaints–others should take notes. One of the cooks, I’m familiar with does an outstanding job and is always accomodating to your dietary needs–CW–A BIG THANK YOU!!
Best Value for the buck. This is a local restaurant that opened in the 1970’s. It was a HUGE favorite of all the High Schoolers in the 70’s and also a local favorite. After being gone from the area for over 10 years I was glad to come back and find them in business and in the same place! Food was just as good as it was in the 70’s. The great thing is that the cost has not gone through the roof like the Clock Restaurant in Greer which had a similar menu when they started in the 70’s but has overpriced it’s Hamburgers and Hotdogs and also cut down on the size of the Hamburger Patty.Cannon’s on the other hand has Hot Dogs for $1.00 al day every day and their Hamburgers are 6oz Black Angus hand pattied burgers. On Wednesday the burgers are $2 each and fries are $1 each. Wednesday Hot dogs are 2 for $1.It is a greasy spoon and a dyeing breed of restaurant. But if you still love a good ol American Hamburger and Sweet Tea then this is the place for you.For the chicken head that complained about the grease….GO SOMEWHERE else…they can survive without your business!
Great hotdogs. I’ve been hearing people talk about Cannon’s for the past year, so I finally decided to try it. I had hot dogs and french fries and everything was great. NOT greasy at all. I took my brother there about a week ago and he said that Cannon’s will definitely become one of his regular stops. I have not had anything else there, but someone beside me ordered fried chicken. The chicken smelled and looked good, and I did not see a hint of grease on his plate. I look forward to trying some of their other entrees.
Cannons is a lil greasy, but hey that’s the way this type of food should be! The calabash chicken is the best in town and plan to slpit the dinner, because at Cannons they feed ya! I’ve been going to Cannons since I was about 8 years old and will continue going, give it a try…
One word 2 describe this place yuck!!!!!!!! so greasey so revolting the 4 of us could not even eat it. my wife ordered a hot dog and only half a hotdog was even in the bun (?who ate the other half?) the o rings could have been squeezed out and there would be enough grease left 2 fry a chicken in it !!!!!!!!!! rotten tomato and soggy lettuce on my burger> I could go on but as sad as the beacon is this place makes the beacon like dining at le bernadin
