I have had the pleasure of dining in fine restaurants around the country and around the world. I can honestly say that I would rate Charlie’s L’etoile Verte among the very best: the ambiance, the wait staff (especially Michelle), the bar, the wine list, and of course the FOOD. We had cocktails, four courses, and coffee and we were never rushed. Each course arrived simultaneously and each at the perfect temperature. I ordered the escargot, prepared the traditional way. Those little snails were the tenderest I’ve ever had. I decided on the rack of lamb (Colorado) medium rare and shared small bites to several of my family members. One said the lamb was better than her filet mignon! All entrees included a small green salad, potato an gratin and a vegetable medley. My dessert consisted of chocolate biscotti with a strawberry mousse that was out-of-this-world.The wine list was extensive with a wide range of prices and at least 25 offered by the glass. Twenty eight years of operation is a testament to Charlie’s dedication to lovingly serving the best food to an adoring public. I’ll be back.

Loved it and I don,t like fish. What a wonderful restaurant, just like the old days. Now I am picky, I usually dont eat fish that I have not caught that day. Charlies Green Star as the locals call it has the freshest fish ever. I dont know how they do it but they do. I have a very sensitive nose for fish. Fish is to taste light and fresh like the sea. If it has any fishy smell at all it is way old. Charlies has a very wide selection on the menu every day and it changes every day depending on what they can get. Each dish is prepared in an elegant way with its own hand created sauce. I had the Trigger Fish, a beautiful white firm flaky fish. The trigger fish came with a chard chipotle and tomato BBQ sauce. It was heavenly. My friend had the Mountain Trout with pesto. I tasted that and it was the best. The trout was a large filet with pink meat. My Lovely wife chose the Blackened Red fish. It stood up to its classic reputation. Dinner was served with lots of homemade bread. Included with the meal is a small fresh green salad with a vinaigrette and cheese crumble dressing. The salad was very nice.
Always a great overall experience!. My wife and I have dined here a handful of times, with every experience greater than the last. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone! Superb atmosphere, service and cuisine! A+++

Very good, interesting menu. Decent service, but the food is always good. Can’t ever go wrong with Charliie’s or Michael Anthony’s.
It has been 2 years since we visited Hilton Head and ate at Charlie’s. It is as great as we remembered. Food and service were awesome. Best meal of the week!
