Food was ok, dessert was great. service was AWFUL!. The service was absolutely horrible!! It was an experience I couldnt believe was happening. I have never written a review before but I couldnt wait to write this one. I arrived with my friend who was not hungry. When our waitress asked us for our orders my friend said nothing for her and the waitress seemed annoyed. When we ordered our drinks my friend asked for lemon in her drink and wasnt brought any. When she asked the waitress again for it the waitress replied you should have asked for it in the first place which my friend did. From the very first second we arrived our waitress Debbie clearly had an issue without knowing us. As our time went on we asked for more bread at our table which seemed to be an issue. Once I asked for the bread the waitress replied with yeah, uh, its just that…because… then she walked off? When she arrived back at the table with 1 piece of bread my friend asked if there was an issue and she said they only make enough bread for how many people are there and they had to make sure everyone got bread Im not sure how this place can predict how many customers they are going to have during the day but I feel that answer was very ignorant. A few minutes later I ended up talking to this lady who worked there that seemed to be a sweetheart. I told her I was not happy with our waitress Debbie and I would rather leave her my tip for being so nice. Turns out the lady I was talking to was the manager who went to Debbie and told her we werent happy with her services. Debbie came out a few moments later and was very rude and threw the check at me. I asked her if I could get some dessert and she replied with I know your not happy with my services and I figured you wanted to leave right away she pointed at the corner of the table and said the menu was there and walked off. NEVER IN MY LIFE have I had a waitress be so rude to me!!! After a comment like that I defiantly wanted to talk to management now. Management came out and apologized and went in the back to talk to our waitress Debbie. Debbie spoke loud enough where me and my friend heard I dont care about them. I hate them. Im not serving them and Debbie walked off. As sweet as management is you can clearly see this lady doesnt have control over her staff but instead they have control over her. In any other establishment someone would be terminated right away for behavior like that and seeing how comfortable Debbie is by being so rude I can clearly see nothing will be done with this manner which is pitiful. Management should have told Debbie what we said when we left the building not when we were currently there so we could be attacked for that. My friend is black and feels she was profiled for her race. This whole situation is just awful. We left our names and phone numbers for someone to call us back and 3 days later still no responds from anyone. Thank you cranes Tavern for an experience I will never forget!!

Best Prime Rib Ever!. Ordered the 22oz, finished it in 7 minutes. Soooooo good. Fried Apple Pie scrumptious as well. Great atmosphere, service and food, highly recommended!!!
Delicious meal where everyone was happy. We have been coming to the island since 1983 and my cousins have lived here for 15 years. We have never been to Crane’s until last night. Eddie was our waiter and could not have been more helpful. The Manhattan Clam Chowder was outstanding. We ordered the crab cakes, tuna and grouper dishes.. Nothing but ohhs and ahhs. Great. We all left happy and more than full, unfortunately no room for dessert. Next time. Oh yes we can’t wait to come back.
Excellent prime beef. We had a very nice dining experience at Cranes Tavern tonight and will be back. We ordered from the restaurant week menu for the most part and left Cranes stuffed to the gills for a ridiculously low price. For starters we ordered the tuna appetizer from the regular menu. It was wonderful: fresh, flavorful and nicely plated. I had the orange and fennel salad – had to ask for fennel as there was only one small piece on the salad. Our server brought a nice portion to the table. I was a bit disappointed that the orange slices were canned, but the dressing was excellent. My companion really enjoyed his sweet potato and Andouille sausage soup. My small serving of prime rib was outstanding – some of the best I’ve had in ages. That is a huge compliment from this Midwestern prime rib snob. (I will order the 16 oz. when we return). The scallops with white bean and pancetta ragu disappointed my companion as the scallops were a bit fishy and the dish rather bland. It is not on the regular menu. Dessert got high ratings from both of us. Sadly the chocolate mousse trote with chambord coulis is not on the regular menu. It was wonderful as was the brandied apple Napoleon with phyllo crisps and walnut crumble. Cranes is a rather small, crowded place and was very busy. No problems with the service or food as a few reviewers have mentioned. If you like prime beef, eat at Cranes. You will be delighted with the beef. Yes, it is expensive, but then, good beef always is! And, they serve that wonderful fine dining restaurant quality coffee,
We went on a Thursday and sat without wait. They were very helpful with our 12 month old and the waiter was very very good. We had prime rib that was tender an juicy, giant lump crab cake that was amazing and chicken with mango chutney that was tender and flavorful. The beer was in a frosty glass, all the service was prompt and the atmosphere was really nice. Great, excellent and delicious!!
Delicious meals all around…we had 3 wonderful dishes…shrimp and grits, seared sea scallops, and grilled salmon. One of the best meals on the island. Our server, Robert, was excellent and very helpful. I will definitely eat there again.
