If you’re reading this, make reservations…life will be fine!. The food is just fantastic. I’ve never had better. If you’re southern, you know how hard (and wonderful!) it is to find this kind of cooking in a restaurant. If you’re NOT southern, don’t expect this to be like any other restaurant and cuisine. Think of this as going to your old southern granny’s for Sunday lunch. Very informal and, as with my old gran, cooking is a gift of love…and the cook wants to know that you’re enjoying the food and to know what dishes you especially love. Don’t expect the people down here to be like the people up north. They’re not. Southerners have a different sensibility about food. Learn to love that sensibility and you’ll be much happier and (one hopes) less critical (based on some of the reviews below) of how we do things. Bottom line: if you don’t LOVE LOVE LOVE Dye’s cooking, you’re not living right (and I mean, on the inside)!!!! If you want similar cuisine (but tarted up), smaller portions and linen tablecloths at more than twice the price, go to Savannah or Charleston. If you’re cheap, stay home and eat a peanut butter sandwich or open a can of lima beans and eat ’em with a spoon OR go to that fine southern racist establishment, Cracker Barrel.
