we had an excellent meal at ruan thai. the servers were very nice despite some language barrier issues. we had a beef appetizer that smelled pretty funky, but it tasted good and had a great spicy kick to it. my wife couldn’t get past the smell though so I mostly had it to myself. for our meals we had pad thai, thai basil chili chicken and one other dish I cannot recall. all were excellent. the pad thai was pretty basic but the basil chili chicken was amazing. the prices were more than fair, especially for being on Hilton head. I would definitely go back given the opportunity.
The food was very good, enjoyed the fresh rolls (salad rolls), green curry and panang curry, both very good. Curry were served in a large bowl together with the rice. My husband and I were surprised by this presentation. We are used to the curry in one bowl and rice in another bowl with plates for serving the curry. If you prefer a family style dinner ask for your curry and rice separate. The kids size pad Thai was the perfect size and very good.
Thai Cuisine. 1. Came early, with minimal crowd. 2. Order taken somewhat promptly. 3. Food arrived somewhat timely. 4. Once served, even though minimal customers, service was very poor, and throughout the remainder of dinner, no waitress seen.Food quality: reasonable, but for the high price (I ordered .Atmosphere: mediocre, but acceptable.FINAL DECISION: Very pricey. Poor service. Food adequate quality. Mediocre ambience.
We liked it very much. The mango and sticky rice needed to be bigger for the price. We will be back 🙂
Mediocre food less than acceptable service. Their Thai food was mediocre and I shall return to Okko next time I want Thai. The service was ridiculous….a Saturday night, they had lots of SLOW staff who look over and do not attend tables so they were not understaffed. Ordered an entree which was suppose to be hot (spicy hot) and it was anything but. Over 200 restaurants on Hilton Head Island and this is definitely NOT one to try.
Good Early Deals. On Monday and Tuesday the before 6:30 deals are very good. I had the Pad Thai and it had great spice and good flavor. On an island without much different cultured food, this place is a great change. The beer selection they have on tap has some great brands and would recommend them to friends.
Fantastic meal, great service! I was a little hesitant after reading some reviews that said the service was lacking and the food was only ok. This was not the case at all! Our party of 6 was seated immediately and had very attentive wait staff the whole time. Everything I ordered was some of the best Thai I have ever had. The fresh salad rolls, Tom Yum soup, and drunken noodles I would order all of them again and again! However, when they say hot is spicy, they mean it!
