I found Ruby Lees entertainment and food to be worth the drive from Savannah to Hilton Head. However, there seems to be some sort of a disconnect with the service provided. Most definitely, the wait time needs some tweaking. Especially, when I made sure to make reservations ahead of time. In an effort, to ensure that we would have proper seating and wouldnt have to stay outside in the cold for an extended period of time waiting.Let me start off by saying, I first found out about Ruby Lee’s after watching the food channel earlier this summer. Featuring some of the most talked about places to visit. The representation of Ruby Lees was very fascinating to me. Heck I could hardly wait to experience what I had just witnessed on television for myself.Unfortunately, it slipped my mind to tell my Old man about it. It wasnt until he suggested that we go after hearing about it from a friend. Who compared your venue to The Jazz Corner which we love to frequent a lot. As a result of this, he decided to make my day by bringing me to Ruby Lees for my birthday. I was responsible for making the reservation for 2 which was done in advance for November 20th.Not only did I make reservations ahead of time.I confirmed our reservation via e-mail as suggested. In addition, my boyfriend suggested that I contact your establishment via telephone to ensure that we would not have any problems. Matter of fact, I talked with Mr. Tim twice regarding our previously scheduled reservation time. The first time to ensure seating and the second time to let him know that we were running behind time. His reply was as long as you get here before 8:00pm everything would be just fine. I cannot hold your table beyond 8:00 pm. Well we did as instructed an arrived before 8:00 pm. As a matter of fact, it was 7:35 and we were standing in the threshold of the doorway. I first approached a Hispanic lady to let her know that I previously made a 7:30 reservation and was waiting to be seated. She replied by saying whats your name let me go check for you. Unfortunately, she never returned to provide me with an update. Then I approached Mr. Tim and informed him of my name and that we were waiting to be seated. He replied by saying that he did not know what happened to our table but we would be the first to be seated once some seating became available. And he would make it up by sending us a round of drinks (never received the curiosity drinks thanks Tim)Lol Nonetheless, we were finally seated about 30 minutes later. Shortly thereafter the Hispanic lady came and took our drink order (she needs more training). Then a helpful tall young lady approached the table and took our food order (provided good service).I must say the food came out in a reasonable amount of time and it was truly worth the drive from Savannah. Especially, those Oxtails, (Lord have mercy on me) fried chicken and macaroniUmm-Umm goodAnother thing that we witnessa short lady with a ponytail in the back of her head (although she was helpful)walking by cussing numerous times unsure if she was intoxicated or not but found it to be a bit too much for usespecially with the drive and the amount of money we spent P.S. Unsure if we will ever returnif so, I hope our next visit will be more memorableHave you ever thought about expanding? Perhaps, knocking a wall or two down for the stage and seating. I am sure the Deas Guyz would love thatYours truly,Ms. TruleyMs. Truley
Ruby Lee’s is certainly off the beaten path. Looks a bit forlorn at the end of a strip mall, but the staff is friendly and they had live music. The pork chop was excellent, as were the collard greens, but the fries were disappointing (dropped from the freezer bag to the fryer?). My husband had the Ruby Platter of wings (good), fried okra (very tasty and crisp), and crab balls (meh). We are from Maryland… So what can I say, these were NOT good. But all in all a nice, casual dining experience. Probably a local hangout.
Good place. I can’t say the service was great or the food was best ever. It’s a sports bar with really decent entertainment. It was good good, the service was slow but very well done. The singer was really good, worth far more than the six buck charge. We’d go back.
Having a great time at Ruby Lee’s. Great food; ox tail stew was to die for. Toe tapping, finger snapping music to groove to.
