Absolutely the best place to eat at the beach!! I eat there often and have never had a bad meal nor has anyone I’ve taken there and that’s the first place I take family and friends. Chase and his crew always make you feel like family. If you haven’t tried the ribeye I suggest you do!!! Sara J’s my favorite place to eat!!!!

Heard about how good Sara J’s was from a friend so went to try it out with my boyfriend. Defiantly doesn’t live up to standards. Ordered the crab cake as an appetizer. Good thing it was only 2 of us because they only give you one regular size cake. However it was pretty good. Entrees were mediocre, seafood platter was nothing short of some thing I could have made at home. The advertised live music was only heard if you had a table outside. Nice view of the marsh was the only positive I found. A lot better places to eat in Murrells/Myrtle area.

Nothing special and over priced. 2 local couples looking for a relaxing uneventful evening out after a long week. Sara J’s was the pick since we have never been there before. Sadly, this restaurant was not special…seated on the heated outside patio overlooking the marsh (nice) but the waitress was not informative about the food..had not tried anything we asked her about and could not even describe the food at all. She wasn’t able to sell us anything. I opted for the shrimp salad…when received it was nothing but a large side salad with iceburg lettuce, grape tomatoes, sad looking cucumbers, slices of onion and boiled unseasoned shrimp. Amazing they could charge $13 for that. The baked potato was at least a day old and not the baker size potatoes you get at like a steak place but maybe the size of a russet out of a grocery store bag, and $3.00; my husband got the grilled chicken salad..again iceburg lettuce, same ingredients with cold, early morning (if not yesterday’s) chicken for $12.00 plus $3.oo for a dinky baked potato. The only thing any good was the hush puppies. I will not be repeating a visit there. Sorry..but it just wasn’t worth the $40..nothing about it..from service to food..it was more like food you could get at Dennys. Skip it.

Everything wonderful….except the fish.. Many more pros than cons. Loved the location and the view of the marsh. We were expecting to wait, since it was a Friday night, but we were seated immediately. Our waitress was prompt. She brought our drinks and hush puppies, and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. I ordered the combo plate, which consisted of 1 serving of fish (probably Tilapia, the menu just said fish) 1 deviled crab, fried shrimp, slaw, and baked potato. My husband had fried catfish, (2 pieces), slaw, and French Fries. My opinion: Hushpuppies, slaw, baked potato, all delish. The shrimp was a pleasant surprise, because it was not the normal popcorn shrimp (which in my experience is what is usually served with combo plates). It was a big serving, of full size shrimp, fried perfectly, and tasted out of this world. The deviled crab may truly have been the best I have ever tasted. Now for the one con: neither my husband nor myself liked our fish. Mine tasted all right but the coating was very soft, and a little greasy. My husband’s catfish the same way. I don’t know if they were cooked first and just were out too long before they got to our table, or if that is just the way Sara J’s makes them. but neither of us cared for the fish. All in all, we will go back, but my husband said he will just order steak and I will probably get a combo of just the shrimp and deviled crab.

Worst seafood we ever had. Our scallops & shrimp were supposed to be sauted , but came out boiled & rubbery texture, not too mention poorly seasoned. The sheepshead was so over cooked & seasoning was terrible. The oysters rockfeller were disgusting. I can honestly say that 8 out of 8 meals were not good….. Long john silvers makes better seafood than this place. We would not recommend

So long Sara J’s. Sara J’s was recommended by friends and tried it last night to celebrate a birthday. The Oyster Rockefeller were the worst I’ve ever had; oysters on the half shell with Cheez Wiz poured over, horrible. The Seafood Combination as perfectly cooked as it was, was cooked in old, rancid oil. The fish, shrimp and oyster were lightly breaded and cooked to perfection. Maybe it was just an off night for the oil.

Used to be my family’s favorite place to come. Not anymore. Super long waits, which we used to not be bothered by, but now the service is terrible, food is mediocre, once you get what you ordered…2.5 hours after arriving! Not to mention the bill was excruciating for what we got.
