Lovely restaurant and low lighting for nice ambiance. The food was excellent. My family of 5 each ordered something different and everyone loved their dishes equally. The wait staff was pleasant but service was a bit slow. Prices are a bit high but we still plan to return because the food was worth the price.
I am a longtime fan of Travinia, and I make it a point to stop in whenever I am in the Columbia Area (which is fairly often). Heavenly pastas and just about the best crabcake to be found anywhere — meaty chunks of crabmeat, perfectly seasoned and devoid of any noticeable filler. Lately, however, I hesitate to recommend Travinia to others because the quality has become somewhat uneven. On the two most recent visits I found a couple dishes — the Madeira wine demi that was served with the grilled filet and the Parmesan risotto that was served with the otherwise delicious jumbo seared scallops — to be overly salted. I can’t comment on the service in the dining room, as I always dine at the bar, where the servers are always both friendly and attentive. Despite a few recent disappointments, I definitely will return again and again.
