Not Good!. We went here to eat one Sunday night and ordered a General Tso Chicken with eggroll meal. The chicken was way overcooked and the rice was dry. The egg roll was not good at all. We went here based solely on a 90% rating off of this site. We both threw away our meals and will never return. If you want really good chinese food around here, go to Egg Roll Chen off of Garner’s Ferry Road.
Better than your usual Chinese. I love Chinese food so I’ve eaten my fair share of it over the years and Chen’s is some of the best I’ve ever had. My dish of choice and the one I measure places by is General Tso’s Chicken. This place has the best I’ve had in Columbia. Crispy, not an overly powerful sauce that detracts but is just good, nice spiceness. They cook it with whole dried pepper pods for that extra bite. And their rice is very good.
Very good!. Upon first entering the Chen’s on US#1 Highway at Oak Grove, it looks like a very typical food service company-equipped Chinese restaurant, like perhaps 30 more scattered in strip malls about metro Columbia, complete with the de rigueur photos of dishes on the wall and single-sheet menu. However, and I am not sure how they do this, but the seemingly-same dishes are just a whole lot better than the typical such restaurant. I can only assume they take more care in preparation and cooking. Its definitely worth driving a few extra miles!
