So I gotta say I was quite disappointed, as were the couple that recommended this place. It does feel like it’s in the middle of nowhere but is a large place and close to the lake. It was apparent they were understaffed for the crowd they were expecting. But even before it got busy, service was slow. The ahi tuna tacos were not good. They had entirely too may onions – they were overpowering, and had no sauce, so even when I picked the onions off, it was like eating oniony tasting sashimi, which isn’t what I ordered. And I hated the seating. Very uncomfortable. We struggled to just get the basics…refills, water, lemon.

Rainy Sunday. It was a sleepy rainy Sunday and we were looking for something to do, so we found a new place tucked away in a pretty woodsy setting for lunch. Moonshiners is definitely a bar, however the surprise here was the food was good too! I got a salad which was fresh, made with spring mix not iceberg! It was a healthy size and the dressing was great, even dipped my fries in it. The hubby got a sandwich that involved meat, I really can’t remember what but he said it was good. Inside the atmosphere is dark like you would expect from a bar, but nice. Looks like they have live music at night. Great outdoor seating if the weather permits. We will definitely make this one of our regular places now that we know it’s there!

Good food, but pricey. Good was better than expected, but I would have been more impressed for a 2 to 3 dollars less for most of the entrees. I had the wings and ribs combo, my wife had the fried shrimp basket. Both were very good, but with waters and tax and tip, it came to $44.
