Definitely more misses than hits.. I live right down the street from this location and its the closest place to pick up a cupcake. Im so annoyed with the quality that I felt compelled to finally write a review after giving them many many chances. The last two times Ive been, the cake has been so dry that I wondered if it was even baked that day. The edges of the [ red velvet ] were hard. Cupcakes are not suppose to be crunchy. The icing is pretty consistent, a little sweet for my taste and I think it could be a little more cream cheesy. I have visited this location on and off since 2012 when we moved to Mount Pleasant and unfortunately, Ive never been too impressed with the girls that work there, they could use some coaching in friendliness.
Not a fan. I had a mini vanilla cupcake with chocolate buttercream and it was not good. the cupcake was dry and flavorless and the icing was sickeningly sweet. maybe it was just a bad day but I will not be returning. sugar bake shop on cannon st is the way to go when you want cupcakes.
Glad they are here…. I go to Cupcake for birthdays because I don’t want a whole cake. Favorites are red velvet, almond, and carrot cake. I know the amount of icing is their signature but I wish they had other options.
Excessive frosting used to hide lack of actual cupcake. 2x as much frosting as cake! Hard edges of the cake as well. Teenagers running the store far more interest in talking to each other instead of helping us at the counter.
In LOVE. My entire family LOVES Cupcake. It’s a special treat (birthdays, valentines, celebrations) – I try to keep from eating them too often (I’d eat there every day if the waistline would allow). We each have our favorite flavor (mostly red velvet), but always have to buy extras of the different flavors so we can try all of the special flavors. The red velvet is SO moist and smooth. Even better, they bake them fresh every day, evident by the fact that they so generously donate the leftovers to church groups/ non-profit organizations each night. Makes me not mind spending $3 for a cupcake! Thank you for being awesome, Cupcake!!! We love you!!!
I am very picky about my cupcakes. They really have to be VERY good for me to enjoy one. I have to say that not all the cupcakes here are that great. I am unsure if they are even made from scratch; perhaps doctored boxes… Who knows? I can’t accuse if I don’t know but they don’t taste from scratch. Having said that- the positive. Their almond cupcake is wonderful as is their tuxedo- chocolate cake, cream cheese frosting with a hard chocolate cap. Their red velvet is also moist and really tasty. As far as the rest I found them to be very dry and the blah taste was camouflaged with the excessive frosting. Not good at all. Cake pops are a lot better. Shop is cute. Wish staff were nicer and more polite and helpful. They seem irritated should you ask any questions. Huh.
Overall pretty good cupcakes. Lots of icing and sometimes a bit dry. I really enjoy the red velvet and they used to have a chocolate butterscotch that I loved. Overall pretty good.
