When looking for a quality South Carolina style BBQ, this place hit the spot. Despite being fairly busy with what seemed like a light staff, the staff was both helpful in our ordering and quick with the food. The mustard base pulled irk sandwich was great! The pork was tender and the sauce just right. The french fries were also surprisingly good. The coleslaw was a little watery and didn’t taste the best by itself but was great when paired on the sandwich. Definitely recommend this place if you are looking for BBQ near Mt Pleasant.

Awesome BBQ!!!. We were thrilled to see a Mamma Brown’s BBQ sign on the old KFC at 17N and 41 in Mt. Pleasant, and hoped it was the same great food that was featured in the Coleman Blvd location that closed two years ago. IT WAS!They don’t have a buffet at this location, but it’s the same great food. We had a group of four. My daughter ordered a mustard BBQ sandwich basket which was enormous. It came with the sandwich (she said the BBQ was perfect.. flavorful, not too saucy and large) french fries, cole slaw, a hugh puppy and onion ring. Her boyfriend ordered a half rack of ribs with red sauce along with rice with hash and corn, which was grown in the Brown family garden. He finished his huge plate and said he was ready to eat there again the next day!I had the vinegar BBQ pork with the famous macaroni and cheese and cabbage, and my friend swore she and the best friend chicken of her life with her meal.Their portions are big, but for REALLY big eaters who miss the buffet, they do offer an all-you-can-eat meal, and some men ordered that while we were there. They sampled ribs, chicken, barbeque, a lot of the sides and topped it off with banana pudding. They just kept ordering food until they were full and seemed very happy with their meal.Mamma Brown’s is worth a visit. I took a menu with me and have called in two meal orders since our first visit and just picked them up at the drive-thru.
Now Open Again. Mamma Brown’s BBQ has reopened in Mt Pleasant at a new location. They are now on Hwy 17 north near the Hwy 41 turn off, it’s on the left side if you are going north. They no longer have an AYCE buffet, you must order everything from the menu. The food is still good, prices have gone up, not as good a deal as the old buffet.
Incredible surprise. Top quality food, great variety, clean & good service.
