My wife and I have been 4 times. We eat out fairly regularly, and can say this easily is Mount Pleasant’s best restaurant. We have had the steak, pasta, and several of the appetizers. They have a great wine selection. Overall … a great dining experience!!

Great east Cooper destination. This was our second time dining at Opal this year. We first enjoyed it during restaurant week, so decided to revisit on an early Saturday night. We thoroughly enjoyed it and recommend it as a great choice east of the Cooper. We loved the decor, interior color and appropriate music for a nice upscale restaurant. But the food is what we really enjoyed. My partner and I both started with the smoked corn bisque with crabmeat – and it was fantastic. The smokey flavor with sweet corn was just so delicious. Our entrees were the grouper over polenta and then the lasagnette with ragu. Both exceeded our expectations with beautiful presentations, nice serving size, and great flavors to taste & enjoy. We could not stop there and had dessert, the pots de creme & hazelnut cake finished off a wonderful meal. We also appreciated the good service, to include a server who was attentive and engaging. We recommend this as an alternate destination to DT Charleston; and we certainly will return again.

Great food and service. My husband and I have been here twice and have thoroughly enjoyed the experience! First time I had the mussels appetizer and the scallops, which were fantastic! The second time we tired a chefs choice of the charcutierie, herb salad and some of their pasta. The waitress did a great job explaining the meats and cheeses (as well as associated wine recommendations). The herb salad with ricotta was very fresh and tasty. Their homemade pasta also is a nice treat. We highly recommend this place to our friends!

Very Expensive!. The steak was very well prepared… but $9 for a glass of wine ?!? This is not Chicago– the potato serving was very small-really?? That is not acceptable– With so many choices here in Mount Pleasant I would NOT recommend this.

Wow what fabulous deserts we had. We stopped in for some coffee and desert and were blown away. Chocalate Tort and Tiramasu cake were pastry perfection. Hats off to the chef. We will def be back to try the entrees soon. Congrats Opal!

Another hit from the local Chef!. Had a birthday dinner there for my wife with her sister and her sister’s husband. We had reservations thankfully and were sat immediately in a big booth. The decor is clean, open and, I don’t know – mediterranean contemporary? Saw several folks we know in the dining room which is always nice. Everyone started with various specialty drinks which were all refreshing. We splurged on the charcuterie and it was amazing. My wife and I split the Whole wheat chitarra pasta with shrimp which had great texture and tomato flavor. For entrees, we each something different. My wife the duck, her sister the fish feature, brother-in-law a filet, and I had the featured bone-in pork loin. Everything was excellent and not a bite was left on our plates (after we guys finished our wives’ leftovers). My local pork was extremely tender and flavorful but my wife’s duck was out of this world. She won for best choice. All in all, we would definitely go back. In fact, I’ve been back to the bar for pasta – porcini agnolotti (raviolis). That dish blew my mind! Rich, savory, and perfectly cooked pasta. Which I later found out is all made in house from scratch.
