Wow, I didn’t know pancakes could be so bad. The pancakes and waffles were cold, heavy, and totally lacking in flavor. The eggs appeared to have been cooked for quite a while. And to add insult to gastronomic injury, the prices were outrageous. Take my advice, DON’T GO!
Not worth it. Even if the food were free it wouldn’t be worth it. We went on a slow brunch morning and the service was the worst we have ever experienced anywhere, even at the busiest of restaurants. We had a table of 3 and not one of us came close to finishing our plates. The orders were wrong, the food quality was poor at best, we didn’t get a single re-fill during our entire meal and we couldn’t even find our server after completing our meal for 15 minutes; we had to ask the hostess to hunt her down so we could be given our bill. Just absolutely awful. And to boot, the decor (and odor) is straight out of an episode of Restaurant Impossible.
Good food, friendly waitresses and pink glasses- who could ask for more? We love this place for yummy brunches on the weekends. I love the over the top feminine decor- the floral light fixtures are as cute as the pink cups- and my veggie omelettes are always delicious.
Not The Place I Remembered At All. I grew up in the Garden City/Murrells Inlet area and thought that going back to the Pancake House would bring back some fond memories — NOT. I went back three times over the past two years and each time the food was simply bland. The waffles could have just as well been Eggos. The omelets were flat as the pancakes and the grits tasted instant. Horrible.
Don’t punish yourself. I went there for lunch today after hearing everyone brag on the place…1st I asked for lemon with my tea…never got it even asked twice…the sandwich I ordered had 2 pieces of fatty beef and fries didn;t come when it was delivered…they were underdone and oily once they did arrive…had 3/4 of my sandwich done…overpriced, poor service and food is not good….go to another place…there are much better in the area
Good eggs, good service – simple.. Very good value.I was told by a neighbor (we’re local) that this place is good and it is. A simple breakfast of eggs over medium, dry toast, potatoes and bacon with a small OJ was just over $5. My waitress was very nice.The poster who complained of wasting $40 dollars must have been hosting a table of ten. I will go back. It is several dollars cheaper than comparable pancake houses in the area and is as good as any of them.This restaurant has a large dining room and parking is easy.
If enjoy poor food, this is the place for you. I don’t have a clue how they got 50% that like it. I ordered pancakes, waitress brought no syrup,butter. I order pancakes with whip cream, guess what NO WHIP CREAM. I guess next time I feel like wasting $40, I will throw it out the window.11 Jul, 2009I was about 30 seconds from telling my family to come on and let’s go. I was told it was going to be 10 mintues to wait, not a problem, give me time for the restroom. The restroom dirty, 2 sinks, 1 soap dispenser,1 paper towel holder. soap dispenser on left of 1 sink, pt holder on right. But when I walked to restroom, I notice 7 tables, in this area, the restroom is totally no smoking. Why the wait. There is 1 host slow, quiet and didn’t want to get from behind the host stand. There was 15 people waiting, and this was 11:15am for breakfast. Then we were called, as I counted goig to out tables 6 more tables on right. The food must be great or it wiill be trouble for the garden city house of pancakes. Waitress good!
