Would not recommend Akels due to quality of food and cost!. We had breakfast there this morning. It could have been the way we ordered but our bill was almost $40 for 3 adults and 1 toddler. We had eggs, bacon, gritts and hash browns, 1 coffee, i pepsi and one milk to the toddler.. The food came quickly but not hot. The hash browns were frozen so it seemed. I was not impressed at all! Would not recomend., We have a condo in Myrtle Beach and have never eaten there although Akel’s have been around since 1975.
Terrible! The food was okay not worth 26 dollars for 2 adults and 1child…our waitress kept putting her fingers in her mouth and her pen. Then she proceeds to put her finger on the ketchup bottle to shake it up. Not one of my better choices.
Last resort. Food was only low average. I told the waitressing I only wanted 2 pecan pancakes instead of 3, she said 2 was not problem. My wife ordered the eggs, bacon and grits. My wife compared the grits to instant grits. My pecan pancakes had few pecans and were only average. When we checked the bill they charged for 2 pancakes and the pecans as an add on which added up to ten cents less then the price for 3 pecan pancakes, when I brought this up to the waitress she said I could have the third pancake to go. The menu is very limited and uninspired. We have favorite breakfast places in other places, but have yet to find one in this area.
Great local breakfast spot. Eggs cooked perfectly, awesome French toast, omelette was scrumptious but could have come out a little warmer. Friendly staff. Overall a great experience
Just The Pancakes . . . .. I made the mistake of ordering something that was neither pancakes nor grits. My hashbrowns were burnt and inedible. My eggs with cheese came out with a slice of semi-melted cheese food on top. My family however loved their pancakes and other sides. We won’t return.
Absolutely the best breakfast on the beach. Wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else for fear of lesser food or service. You just can’t beat the food, prices or professional, friendly service.
Miss the late night. Used to be the favorite late night diner in town before the changing of the hours. But, still a favorite spot to stop for a Belgian Waffle!
