Atmosphere, food and service were all excellent. Only complaint was that cigar and cigarette smoking were allowed in bar area. So many health issues from second hand smoke especially for employees. That was disappointing. Wouldn’t want to eat at the bar for that reason.
Great food, but cigar, cigarette smoking eliminates enjoyment. If you want great steak with cigar/cigarette smoke all around you you’ll be good with this place. If you want great steak and clean air I’d suggest going to Ruth’s Chris in Grand Dunes, which also has a much better/larger bar area. As far as I know, NY Prime is the only fine restaurant in the area that allows smoking of cigars and cigarettes in the bar (which is completely open to the tables in the dining area). Seems that they want to cater to the golfing visitors that like to smoke cigars. And it’s pricey– at least $100 pp. So for the male, cigar smoking crowd, I’m sure it this place works very well. For couples or people (including golfers) that value their health, there are many other fine dining options in the area without the smoke– Ruth’s Chris, Aspen Grill, Collector’s Cafe, Ciao, Library, just to name a few.
